Agreed but chances are, if you live in or near a decent sized city, there is a decent underground scene where you can hear cutting-edge, forward-thinking electronic music.  Or maybe I'm just spoiled here in the midwest.  Just gotta poke around.

mainstream music has almost always been awful except back in the day maybe.  mainstream everything sucks- people are fucking robots- I have been an outcast when I was younger because of my anger towards mainstream music :hulk: hopefully the labels will die out sometime soon!

There are always about 5-10 mainstream bands worth listening to i find...

gotta search for the good stuff though :vaped:

I'll be the first to say that I like music more when I know significant creative effort was put into it.

But I've also found that if I just sit and listen to any form of music and try not to judge, I find that all music is actually really cool.

Just have to be in the right mind set.

I really can't stand country singers though.

It still takes knowledge of musical structure and creativity to produce something that sounds good though. :shrug:

I try not to come off as elitist it's just that a lot of the mainstream stuff sounds exactly the same. Sure, once in awhile I might hear something good that's mainstream but it's incredibly rare nowadays.

Fairly true, though arpeggiators and the likes do simplify that process quite a bit

Its mostly the live aspect i'm talking about :smile2:

I like my most of my music creative and complex thank you very much, not some rehashed cookie-cutter 3 chord garbage singing about a lost love just so everyone can relate and he can make big bucks. You do realize most mainstream music is all about the money right? Judging by your pointless comment, probably not.

I just get so tired of hearing that shit.
Just because you like complex and creative music doesn't mean everyone does or should. So what if people aren't as passionate about music as some of us? Does it mean they're stupid because they just want simple and catchy music to enjoy at a party?
Personally if I'm at a party or hanging out with certain friends shootin' the shit the last thing I want to listen to is some fucking Interstellar Space (which I can't even understand anyway), or De-Loused which I enjoy more when I can focus on it.

With the exception of Dan Deacon I pretty much agree with you about mainstream electronic music.
