Removing sex from the equation
    #7285730 -

alright well, recently i've been thinking a about sexuality, and how it gets in the way of so many things. i know its natural, but i cant stop myself from thinking that life would be so much more enriching, and better if i didnt have urges to have sex, or do sexual things.

Does anyone have any ideas, or things that have worked, or suggestions on how to start on my path to (here comes that word that i hate) abstinence? I think that once i get rid of that desire, my life will be a lot easier. If you dont have something serious to add to this thread, please dont add anything.

Second, if you disagree, please present your argument.

you don't want to remove it completely.

moderation is key....don't' obsess on it....make it an intimate/spiritual thing...it will be much more rewarding rather than being some animalistic hindrance.

dude...is that all you got?

give the dude (and yourself) a little respect and tell us your thoughts....atleast explain why you are laughing.
there are such things as sexaholics. and it's a serious addiction like any other. they cause problems in your life.

i know that's hard to understand being a young male and all....

especially since most of us our age have our number one priority set to fucking as many women as often as we can.

but...there is a much deeper/interesting aspect to sex...than just straight fucking. fucking really does get old after awhile...sorta like masturbatin. "making love" is where it's at.

i dunno, i always think that if i wasnt sexually or romantically involved with anything, and i didnt have the need to do that, then i would be better off, and have more control over myself. i dont see how thats funny really.

Yeah I agree but I wouldn't go for abstinence. Take TameMe's advice and make some love brother.

edit - maybe a long time in the future, if we begin to use asexual ways of reproducing. Then after we evolve enough to be rid of sexual desire. Honestly, I think life would be "better" like this. But who knows...not me, not you.

BTW - tantric masturbation/sex is where its at.

but what are the actual benefits of having sex? beside "i want to" "it feels good" "its natural" or those, are there actually any negative things that will happen if you dont have sex?

Why are you fighting who you are? How would your life be better if you weren't sexually attracted or emotionally longing for a woman/women? I guess what I'm saying is... how exactly is sex hurting your personal life?

After a good intimate session with my woman, we feel more spiritually connected. It's not always about fucking but sometimes discovering each other in a way that cannot be done without intimate sex.

it doesnt necisarily hurt it, i just think that it would be better if i could some how stop myself from wanting it. if you take away a desire, all i can see is good coming out of it. unless of course that desire is for something like water food or shelter.

like instead of saving up money to buy a guitar or something i want, i could simply stop myself from wanting the guitar all together. rather than altering my environment to suit my needs, i do it the other way around.
hope that made sense.

Edit: Remember now, these are just thoughts that i've been having. i havent really taken into consideration actually doing this. just thoughts.

Someone mentioned before though. How a healthy sex life gives you a better mood and outlook on life. To me, that's an essential to live. If I can have a healthy sex life with one partner, and make sure it stays that way, I will feel better about myself. It takes work, but set a goal. Sex doesn't necessarily have to be out of the picture. Maybe just be more picky? Are you hooking up with random skanks? Maybe it's time to set your goal for a really good looking girl and start from there. I find the good looking ones are usually cooler. But that's just me being somewhat honestly shallow.

I've got an argument against your case. I never said it was a good one, but here you go:

Dude, you're god damn crazy. Sex is awesome. Period.

even sex on her period is awesome.  Untill she ruins your brand new boxers because you're too lazy to remove them so your pissed and you choke her and then have to listen to her cry all night long in the corner.

Wouldn't that classify you as a "Asexual"?

I think giving up sex, and/or masturbation, when you want it is unhealthy. Forced abstinence will lead to pent up stress that will manifest in many different ways, and it'll be unpleasant. Simple yes, good no. Freud says the only unnatural sexuality is someone without the urge at all.

You can't get rid of the urge to have sex.  No one can. Even the fucking dalai lama has sexual desires,  if he says he doesn't he's lying.  You can abstain, sure, but the longer you abstain the more its going to consume you.  The desire for physical intimacy and that release of pent up sexual energy is just gonna grow.

Edit- Shooting heroin daily will kill your desire for sex. Because honestly, a dope rush blows any sex I've ever had out of the water (as far as physical pleasure. you won't get any emotional satisfaction, but then again you won't need it because well, you're on heroin.) Its the only way I know works for sure.

I dunno, the way I view it is that a sex drive has had an ancillary affect leading to many many great things in our civilization. sure, on a base level, it would be nice to not have intrusive sexual thoughts when you are trying to accomplish other things.

But think about it, I bet many men throughout history have thought "ya know, if I could just invent something great, or build a successful business, or become a policy maker, that hot chick over there.... she would totally blow me."
