Well, I think the trick was doing my most of my college coursework while smoking weed. Over time, it seemed to improve my cognitive abilities while high, including recalling whatever I learned high, whether it was from a book or my own mind. Of course, you don't need to do homework high to do that, just anything that involves higher levels of thinking.
