A good Datura experience (some guys trip report)

I found this an interesting post about Datura. I might try a low dose someday. But with at least two sitters present. From newsgroup SalviaD@yahoogroups.com (which is really fucked by spam now, and the moderator is nowhere to be found )
----- From: "dimension_shift" Subject: Re: kinda off topic; datura
Well back in the 60s when I was a young hippy snapper, and living in a Berkeley commune, we went over to an orchard near Fairfield Ca, and gathered a gunny sack full of Jimson weed. We made tea from the leaves (I later read that the leaves make you crazy, that you should use the roots). Anyway I had a most wonderful experience communicating with spirit beings. It was so vivid I lost touch with this "reality" until I opened my eyes, never realizing that they were closed in the first place. When I re-entered this reality I saw a number of people talking to invisible beings. I then saw a young lady burning the rest of our sacrament, raving about it eing "the witches herb", and that it must be destroyed. The beings were more communicative than the spirits I've contacted with Sally. We communicated about death, the afterlife, and such. I'd taken LSD before but this was a much more "real hallucination" due to the closeness and social atmosphere in the presence of the spirits. Since it was such pronounced reality, seemingly independent of this life, it helped me lessen my fear of death, believing there are more cool beings in the beyond. -------
He says the roots give a better trip. Anyone know if this is true??

i think the roots contain less of the active ingrediants, so they are thought to be safer.

there are multiple forms of tropane alkaloids all of which are not safe. even if the roots have less active alkaloids in them, it is still the same chemical and will do the same things to you. and alkaloid levels vary from plant to plant soo much that it isnt safe to say that all of the roots have less actives.

Eye doctors do use certain tropane alkaloids and they are used as a pre-medication to anaesthesia.

Yeah im know, its just intresting that they use it. It would be intresting if an eye doctor had some dmso on his hands and accidentily spilled a large amount of that solution on his hands.

Deepblue, I don't know for sure, but I think that with most every drug there must be some kind of 'safe' dosage. And usually that dosage also overlaps the recreational dosage range somewhere.

Well it may not be able to kill but it doesnt mean its safe. It does take quite a large amount of cyanide to kill a man at least comparing it to other poisons.
Hell look at nicotine, its one of the most lethal poisons known to man yet many still smoke it.

yea, but whats your point? you can take small amounts of poisons(ie cyanide) and not die. i just dont know why you would want to though. if you wanna take datura nobodys stopping you, i just dont understand why when there are sooo many other choices for a safer psychedelic experience that will be alot more enjoyable than datura.

Well like this guy I quoted said. He had a very interesting experience. Low dosage usually means shorter trip. And with sitters I'll be pretty safe. I could even ask my doctor for an antidote (which I think are available for the chemicals in Datura). I also smoke tobacco, so a little damage doesn't bother me that much. I'm a strong believer that in my lifespan, stem-cell therapy will be able to fix (and upgrade maybe) my body in currently unimaginable ways. btw, I'm not planning on using Datura anytime soon, I want to be much more experienced before I tackle a drug like this. But I'm just keeping my options open.

the good to bad ratio with datura is pretty steep. i would say for every 1 good trip there are probably 10-15 bad ones. personally i would never touch the stuff even if i had the antidote. if i want a mystical mind expanding journey, i think ill take some mescaline.

Yeah, I would take mescaline in a heartbeat (figurativly speaking ofcourse ) if I could get it. I think I might set up my own cacti garden, but that will take years to develop. Need to have more long-term patience. That's hard when you're young.. If I ever do it, I would like to do an extraction and then a solution of the datura alkaloids. So I could get the dose 'right'.

Or if you just want the incoherent delirium that is a datura trip you could try Dramamine.
Also it isnt very fun. No fun at all.

Yes I might do that, some time. Come summer maybe. The Dutch winters are quite depressing for me (winterdip). But it still takes a lot of preperation and most recipes are quite disgusting as I've read. I want 'pure' mesc
btw, I've never been posting this fast

a peyote button is as pure as it gonna get from a natural source. grind it up and throw it in a couple capsules. i dont want to hear about your winters, its below zero in chicago, and i dont have legal weed, mushrooms, peyote to entertain me.

Hehe. Do you have the money and freelance job to maybe skip some winter weeks/months in a southern country? I'll probably try your advice. Thanks m8

seems like a cool guy: ----- From: "dimension_shift" Subject: Datura
Ok I scanned www.erowid.org. My eyes are damaged (by a faulty computer monitor, not Datura), so I can't read much. I'm still glad I used Jimson Weed. I did experience the vision problems for awhile. The same thing happened to me the last time I went to the eye doctor due to him placing Datura in my eyes. Also I remember that one of us in the commune insisted in leaving the house naked. We caught up with him in traffic on Shattack Ave. and had to guide him back to the house. Good it was in Berkeley where people weren't very uptight about nudity. Also I must say that I can't remember the exact dose that I drank. Take care, and enjoy your trips. If you have a terrible time, enjoy that too. What an opportunity!
