oh the irony

So... how's this for irony.

I handle a few websites for some clients of mine. Business has been really slow so I picked up some office/temp work just last week to supplement my income. Now it is very RARE that one of my clients' web sites go down, and I'm pretty sure I can handle the temp job and any web site related stuff that comes up at the same time... little tweaks and tech support emails I can ususally handle in my breaks or in the evening makes up about 99% of my work for these clients.

So day 3 of my temp job is tommorrow, monday.. and the unthinkable happens... a web site for a client (BIG CLIENT) that hosts their own website (to which 100% of their business runs through.. so without their website up they're at a standstill) goes down on a Sunday night... 8 hours before the start of the business day... on a day where this other company's programmer/networking contracts (both 60 miles closer to this client) had other engagements

So the odds of me having to quit my temp job after having just started to tend to a client emergcy is about 1/1000... and BLAMO!!! day three after just starting the temp job.. it happens. So I gotta blow off my temp job tommorrow to drive a 150 mile round trip to take care of a client and also blow off another client I was doing work for that I was supposed to hav done by tommorrow, therefore fucking myself over financially big time.

So I have an anxiety attack because of this extremely rare catasrophy that happened that I put my money on not happening. What are the odds..

and to make it even weirder.. about 5 minutes after this anxiety attack began.. friend suddenly pops by and says.. "hey want a few ativans"... without any knowledge of what was going on... and I haven't been able to find ativans in years eh?

Weird eh? Almost like God decided to fuck with me... then felt sorry for me and said "shit.. aight.. well here's some pills that should get you through this"

about 1/1000 chance of each day being a day where I need to blow off mmy temp job to tend to a client emergency

which is basically the same as breaking your nose days after you cancel your health insurance which, i might add, also happened to me two years ago.. I quit a job and THREE days after my health insurance stopped... I broke my fuckin nose!... so instead of a 100 dollar hospital bill it was 900 dollars.

naaaaa... I'll figure something out. It's just a temp job... I'm sure there will be more opportunities this month... and being at the client site, I might end up with the boss starting a conversation with "well.. since you're here, I've got some extra work you can do"....

We'll see. I'll update you guys tommorrow on the BrAiN emergency status :wink:
