The miricle of mushrooms...wow
    #1000146 - 10/28/02 03:42 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

Ok, so my casings and cakes from my last batch have been finished for a while. I got about 3 flushes out of all of them. Me being the lazy ass I am, I didn't clean up my mess for weeks...Today I decided it was cleaning day....opened up the terrarium...what do I find? The biggest mushroom I have ever seen growing in my care staring me right in the face

It was growing out of a spent (or so I thought) casing that I had actually dumped right on top of another casing...I needed to use the container it was in and I thought I would be throwing it out anyway, so i made a mess...this was about two-three weeks ago, the last time I opened my terrarium.

Now this thing is safe to eat, right? The cakes that were around it are full of mold, they were sitting there for two weeks after they stopped producing, but the area around the big mushrooms shows no contamination.

I cut it up into sections for drying and its thick as hell...weighs 25 grams, about 8 inches tall...these were PF spores.
And I thought I would just be throwing everything away today! Now I have to drag out my drying supplies again.. :smirk:

-I'm a dork-

Nice mushroom. If there are no contams or signs of contams in that casing I would eat it.
