Contamination Effects
    #515496 - 01/09/02 04:33 PM (16 years, 8 months ago)

I think some of my jars may be contaminated. It brought up the question... how does contaminations effect the mushrooms. I dont plan on eating (or even growing) the mushrooms from the contaminated jars, but do the contams really get 'inside' the mushrooms. If the mushrooms still grow and people say not to eat them, is it because have an actual effect on the mushroom themselves or do the contams just get on the 'outside' of the mushrooms. Im not interested in getting sick or dying so Im planning on taking all the precautions but Im still curious.

i wish i could give out my thoughts
let someone else feel them
and experience who i am
its difficult
sometimes impossible
always impossible?
i hope not

Well, the contamination is fighting with mycellium to use its resource (brf or whatever yer using) and drop spores too reproduce. Mold tends to grow a lot faster and sporulates lots quicker.
