Easy basement lab (pics)

Here you can se how I converted an old well into my lab:




Notice the holes (covered with a filter) in the floor door for outside fresh air entry.




The stairs goes to the pre-lab, where I dress before going in.



This box have a HEPA filter inside so the fan put clean air into the lab:



Now notice that the lab door is elevated from the floor:





I always wear this plus lab desposable shoes before going into the lab.

When you open the lab door this is what you see:

and if you are lucky you can even find the man from the stars over there :grin:




I forgot to say that everything (walls, ceiling, floor)in the lab and prelab are covered with transparent plastic sheet.

That's so cool I can't even tell you!

Looks like LOTS of LC there! What species do you have, and what's the procedure? They also all have the yellow tint to them - is that from your carbohydrate selection (like molasses), or is it long times in the PC, or is it from long incubation times? Just curious.

I live in Florida, so nothing can be underground, everything is sea level, so if you dig down a few feet you hit water! This reminds me of a post here a few years back where a guy bought a house, and discovered an old bootlegging hideaway in the basement and had a huge hidden room only accessible from a crawl-way somewhere.

I really REALLY like this - so cool!

Im using RVK fans. It works the same way as the flowhood I have in the lab, but the box is close so I can send the filtered air straight to the lab through out the pipe...

i think if i accidentally happened upon this setup i would literally come in my pants. it's like a serial killer finding Jame Gumb's underground zone in Silence Of The Lambs, or the underground hall full of women in 'Kiss the Girls'. it's how i imagine the secret stairway begins in 10 Downing St, and the White House, and the Kremlin.

Its sad I had not enough money to buy white plastic instead of transparent... but anyway with the transparent you can see the molds in the wall under the plastic...that way my mind never relaxe to much knowing that the enemy is so close :grin:
