All I have to say is that I can't wait to trip again and listen to Lateralus. Tool is one of the few bands that can make truely trippy music without the use of synths and other "electronica" instruments. The result is one of the best bands ever.

In reply to:

Also.. why the hell would Eulogy be about Bill Hicks? They were FANS of him..

Waving and pionting his finger, at anything but his heart, we'll miss him

I think Bill Hicks fits perfectly to that.

H and Pushit are about the same thing I think. Sweat was about some sort of psykadelik experience -Seems like I'm slipping, into a dream within a dream- Must be the way you whisper (God whispers). Parabol and Parabola just give me the tingles, I love it. Most of the stuff from Lateralus is about spiritual stuff as a whole. Aenima had more pain and fear, like an inner struggle.

Good to see you around

I wish I could "connect" with more people right now who 'get it' ya know?

Things have been strange in my life for the last year and 8 months...now revelations are coming faster and faster and i can't be sure i trust my mind much anymore. :frown: Sad , when we allow our primitive brains to take back over after all the hard work just to make sense of the miraculous that's been given by grace :frown:

Speaking of Tool, I just picked up my tickets to see them in two weeks. I love all of there music. Tool songs can mean lots of things. Tools music has a lot to do with geometry on the lateralus album. Anybody ever heard of the 46 and 2 concept?? Its very great. The album named "aenima" refers to the feminine inner self in jungian psychology. Well enough with my rambling. Peace Josh

And it's very difficult to remember your life before your eyes were opened."

That was an excellent interpretation, i'm relatively new to Tool and i admit to finding the video somewhat beyond my comprehension. I think the reason that your former life is so hard to remember after the awakening is because the two(B4 and after) have basically the same relationship that a normal "dream" has to normal subject/object(ego) conciousness.....in the same way that waking up from a regular dream destroys it's reality as well as it EVER having ANY self existant reality in the first place......the true awakening tends to make recollection of the former state of egoistic dream conciousness difficult if only because your former(ego life) never gad any actual reality value attatched to it except what you imagined in your head while you were stuck on tthe thought plane(dreaming) as opposed to being a concious embodiment of pure love/radiant universal conciousness that is already one with all that really is.......i'm going to get skewerd for sayng that i'm sure so maybe i better get on back to OTD where everyone is so warm and friendly

i really couldnt have said it better myself... in fact, i dont think i even would have been able to say it as good as you did... heck! im not even sure i would even have thought about it... hehehe.... maybe its because i have my mind on other things right now... a lot of other things concerning my future

i'm sorry... i'm open to most tool interpretations, but the half empty half full one for h. just doesn't fit for me at all. when i listen to that song and feel it move through me, nothing i get from it fits into that explanation...

The song was called "Half Empty" before it was put on the album.

Wow, I am amazed so many people are on the same level. Tool is deffinetly something I wish more people would appreciate and understand. They are the second best band I have ever heard. I dont think they will ever compare to pink floyd. They certainly are brilliant. Not just they're lyrics make that clear. They have a way of putting music together that is simple, yet complex at the same time. I cant explain it. I love playing tool on the guitar. They have some damn fun guitar to play. They're fucked up timing is what makes they're music so different. Aenima is a brilliant song. It has a lot of meaning to it for sure, as with all they're songs. I can play a lot of they're stuff on the guitar, but am still interpreting they're songs, and they're meanings. I dont really know much about tool, as I just started listening to them. I am mainly focusing on the guitar and drum right now, so I think I have a hell of a lot of work cut out for me. I cant wait till I figure out 46 and 2, so our band can jam to it. Ahhhh, god has blessed me with music!!!

I'f anyone understands music, they realize how amazing tool is. 46 and 2, for example: Listen to the outro. There is a drum solo. I'f you can understand how that goes together, you will realize how brilliant it is. The drums make the timing for the guitar extremely odd to say the least. This is just a simple example.

"G30. OK, they have a song called "H." What's it stand for?

The working / early title for this song was "Half Empty." The H likely stands for that (or "Half Full"). It may represent the old "half-empty is interchangeable with half-full" notion. Of course, it could also stand for anything else. It's a safe bet that it does not stand for Heroin.

G31. "H." is great, but what's it about?
When introducing this song live in 1996, Maynard touched on the idea of having an angel sitting on one shoulder and a devil sitting on the other. In at least one interpretation, the song is about being very close to someone who is tearing you apart, someone you can't bring yourself to leave, but someone who will destroy you because you can't leave them. It is the price you pay for being close to them; they aren't doing it on purpose: "considerately." "
