Re: You can't lose weight, seriously? [Re: Grizvok]
    #9866677 -

Well i am one of those fat people. I guess i am not super fat, but fat enough to make me not feel healthy. I have gained about 20lbs this winter and it is killing me. I need it to be nice outside. I get so depressed in the winter and don't want to do shit. All I do when I am not at work or school is smoke weed and eat. I know what a good thing to do.

I get the whole science behind losing weight, but it just doesn't seem to work for me. Call my lazy I guess. I know it is something I need to work on. At least I am not the guy eating honey buns and dr pepper every break and complaining I'm fat.

I do my best to try and eat healthy. I believe my main problem is exercise.

My ex has gotten so fat since I left her ass. The other day we were talking and she was saying "I have been watching what I eat and I am still gaining weight" all while she licks the frosting off of two cupcakes and doesn't even touch the cake part.

dieting is hard because porkroll, egg, and cheese is so fucking amazing. No really, it all comes down to willpower and exercise. I honestly need to get my act together and drop 30 before summer. Being unemployed for the past couple months has not helped. Its no excuse but I was a lazy asshole and ate whatever I wanted while watching fucking fullhouse reruns all day.

I can't get below 230 and it's pissing me off. I lift weights 5 times a week tho, and all the fat i had from 5 years of sitting around and gaming all the time is mostly muscle now. I have only lost 20 pounds in 4 months, but i think thats because i am more focused on lifting than i am running or karate. I still run and practice karate, but not as much as i should. I really am going to get into gear when spring hits tho, because i can mountain bike and hike everyday again. I love hitting the trails and just running through the woods. I really hate the tread mill because i am just board as hell staring at a tv or the wall.

I might not be losing alot of weight like i wanted to, but i am getting built like hell lol. 230 and not alot of fat makes a big guy. I really am hoping to kick it into gear this summer with more cardio outside. I want to get at least to 210. If i could get to 210 i would be happy to stay right there.

230lbs? How tall are you?

Good post, weight loss is very simple.

Counting calories can be very simple too, just count in hundreds.

Being sick has caused me to lose almost 15 lbs, I'm so pissed. I had such a solid workout week last week and I was so excited to get back into climbing, but this is really going to set me back. I don't know if I should gain the weight back or try and cut down so I'm super lean and then put the weight back on :mad2:

Don't waste your time cutting up if you're just gonna put muscle back on.

Oats
Muscle Milk
Bodyweight x 15 + 500 (Amount of calories you need)

You'll gain weight.

Well ideally I would say Before and After you workout and before you go to bed (Just muscle milk or any other form of casein protein).

You want to have the rest of your meals focusing on chicken, meat, potatoes, whole wheat bread, eggs etc

I find it ironic that most of the heavier/fatter people I know are also usually the healthiest. It only becomes sad when they disillusion themselves into thinking if they keep it up they will look like the 300 boys in no time, or the guy from the bowflex commercials.

Living healthy is great and easy to do; becoming cut and chiseled is unfortunately more dependent on genetics (Though a powerhouse diet and training routine never hurt anybody)

nothing pisses me off quite as much as the "obesity is a disease" people

give me a fucking break. You have all these doctors and shrinks who encourage that shit and it just gives fat people some sort of justification for their behavior.

same goes for the "addiction is a disease" people

The problem with weight loss is that your body is like a thermostat (of sorts). Once you decrease caloric intake, your metabolism will slow as well.

To keep your metabolism up, you need to exercise regularly, which is a challenge for the majority of people.

In essence, losing weight involves exercising regularly (and vigorously), eating tasteless, healthy food, and the discomfort of starving.  Not a fun process, and certainly not easy.

eating tasteless, healthy food, and the discomfort of starving

Congrats.  Was it easy for you?

Losing weight and living healthy is a lifestyle change.  Sure, the science is simple, but implementing such a change can be difficult.

You do not have to eat tasteless food or starve yourself in any way in order to lose weight.  It does not have to be boring or grueling.  My workouts are fun, but they weren't before I discovered kettlebells.  After only a month or so, I found it a lot easier to do my routine than to neglect it.  The only real 'grind' is the first few weeks, when good habits are still forming.  After that it becomes self-sustaining, if it is an effective program.

Finding a fun way to get in shape is so important.  I tried a lot of workouts that I never enjoyed, and I never got anywhere with them.

If you can't gain weight eat more. If you still can't gain, eat more. Be consistent and you'll see results no matter who you are.

Losing weight is pretty easy and I disagree about health food being bland. Sometimes I wonder if I'm in denial because I'm actually forced to cook most of my own food and because of this it's pretty much all good foods (usually) and I think I like the taste way better. You just have to know your way around the kitchen. And yes I've relapsed and had gluten and garbage I wasn't supposed to and was disappointed that the same food that was destroying my stomach wasn't even worth eating.

Slow roasted chicken marinated in red wine, ground black pepper, red wine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> tacos from the best street vendor in town >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> doritos

Seriously once you get to know your ingredients as well as your own siblings it's easy as hell to make food you love at all times that also loves you back (with nutrients and taste).

Eh. I just had to overhaul everything. What time I ate, what proper portions were, etc. Usually the less time it takes to make something, the healthier it is. Raw veggies (I'm allergic to most fruit) started to taste good. Even plain oatmeal has its own unique flavor to it.

Transitioning from soda to water wasn't hard either, but I started drinking more coffee in the mornings.
