Hit it right on the head. My roommates and I have this cat that we let come in and chill with us, we feed it, it kills some of our mice and then we let her out to prowl during the day. It works out fine and she always comes back.

As a feral cat it's amazing how well she adjust to being indoors with us. She's so chilled out and affectionate towards humans indoors yet she acts completely feral when she's outdoors.

We call her Ceiling Cat :lol:

One thing.. if you have an indoor cat.. for the love of god please clean its litterbox regularly.
I've had multiple roommates in the past that were lazy as fuck about cleaning that thing, and as a result.. the entire bottom floor or wherever it was, smelled like cat shit and piss all the time. This one chick had TWO cats and only cleaned it once a week, at MOST. Not cool.
It gets even worse when there are 2 cats shitting nonstop.
Not accusing you of anything.. but cat owners, for the love of god.. clean up after your damn pets they're your responsibility.

I clean my cats liter every 2 - 3 days to keep it nice and clean.

Another thing is to wash the cats water bowl with soap every day or couple days. Keep it really clean. Same thing for the food bowl, every few days wash it with soap and water.

It's not hard to maintain a cat and keep it happy :kitty:

I'd prefer having a cat that can just roam as it pleases but if you have a decent sized apartment i'm sure it won't mind all that much.

but watching an indoor cat stare out the window makes me feel bad...

yea, i live with my mom atm, but not for long. and its a 1200 sq ft.apartment and there are three cats here, one is extreamly over weight ( you can see them in the post your pets thread). i feel sorry for them. like everytime you open the door they wanna scram because they proly hate it being inside forever. sucks for them. awww

If they grow up in an apartment they won't know the "nature life" exists - introducing them into nature later in life actually seems to startle them...

My folks' indoor cat sits next to the window staring at the birds most of the day, but he doesn't try to get out when you open the door. He seems pretty content to stay inside.
