hardcore conspiracy theorists
    #9608959 -

why doesn't their world view often contain humor and the ability to make jokes about themselves?

i'm distinguishing between people who like think with an open mind about possible conspiracies and people who seem obsessed with it & having a messiah complex.

they come off as fundamentalists, that have little time for humor and when they do make jokes its bitter, like "and yeah they'll scream for mercy once we expose them and shoot them" bla bla.

does the world of paranoia completely exclude humor about oneself?

Usually, I seem to have a healthy sense of self-humor.
I have learned that when I get r irritated instead of laughing at myself is when I am the most full of shit. Luckily, it doesn't take me so long to realize this.

These types tend to take things very very seriously which means they most likely take themselves very seriously.

I have a friend who constantly rambles about all this crap which he claims is the "truth" that he discovered on the internet.

When I confront him I say this "thats interesting but you can't seriously believe this 100%" and he always gets real pissed and acts like I'm a sheep for not believing in something just because I want to.

The ability to find humor in one's own beliefs is a rare trait among any group, especially if those beliefs are deeply held.

The problem is that most people see criticisms merely as attacks instead of potential inspiration for new thoughts.
The further problem is that this seems to be the main intent when people indeed do criticise

The more likely you are to feeling attacked, the less likely you are going to be open minded.

conspiracy theories start forming a lot of 'sense' in certain people's minds. This 'sense' seems like reality and thus when people deny it, they seem to be denying someone's interpretation of reality.

in the instance of conspiracy endulgers, these people often have very speculative basis for their heartfilled convictions, and thus are more likely to be taken less seriously and more likely to feel attacked and more likely to start digging a hole for themselves by declaring that people who dont take them fully seriously are 'sheep'.

still, it is true in my opinion that most people think conspiracy theories are silly, when it seems to me that it would be highly unreasonable to suggest significant conspiracies do NOT occur amongst society

I think you're part of a conspiracy.  Isn't that a Mason in your avatar?

Sorry.  I've been waiting to use that line for a while.

IMO, we are conspiring against ourselves without realizing by trying to get rich.

Afterall, weather the NWO exists or not, their power is solely based on our greed for money.

How exactly, step by step, are we conspiring against ourselves by trying to get rich?

Yeah, especially if NWO doesn't exist.

I don't necessarily think wealth is bad in itself.  But I certainly agree that if there's any conspiracy out there, it's greed.  Special interests buying influence in Washington, the IMF manipulating Third World governments to suit corporate interests, etc.  It's all about the almighty dollar.  Jesus didn't say that money is the root of all evil, but he said the love of money is the root of all evil.  Man cannot serve two masters.

Well sometimes you just need to sift through all the bullshit and connect the dots. If you still believe 9-11 was planned out by 13 arabs(half of which were dead apparently years prior to the attacks according to the BBC's investigation) well then i guess i feel sorry for you  It frustrates me that people have a hard time remembering a timeline well enough to connect anything together.
