Atheist Christmas

Sorry to sound like a grinch, but fuck x-mas...i'm gonna totally avoid it this year...i don't believe in Christianity so there is no point of me doing something so hypocritical...Anyways, for those of you who enjoy the holidays. have fun, you're entitled to your own beliefs as much as i am.

Good for you man. Wish I could do the same.
I guess I don't care to have to deal with questions from my family about why I'm not participating in the whole christmas thing this year.
i just recently decided I wasn't a christian

I hated being lied to as a child about the easter bunny,santa,jesus etc,..

If I ever have childrens I'm not going to lie to them and fill their head full of crap so they get all disappointed like me when they find out the truth

lucky for you, christmas was a pagan celebration of the winter solstice, so drink some rum & egg nog, trim the tree, and spread some good cheer dammit. seems like its mostly a secular holiday now anyway. just a scheme to get people to spend like good little capitalists.

When I was a christian (as a kid) I never observed christmas, since its not in the bible.  But now that I am no longer a christian, I can have fun with christmas all I want!

I was indoctrinated into christmas.  As I have aged I just am not sure what is the best way to raise a family.  I enjoy the things that go along with christmas (it's the only time I get to spend time with my immediate family) but do not care for what it stands for.  I'm not athiest though, i guess more agnostic at this point.  I'm sure I will end up living a hypocritical life because of those i surround myself with.  Much like Tolstoy, but without the talent.  lol.

Christmas obviously has a large secular component to it, regardless of what fundamentalist christians say or militant athiests say.  It is an evolving tradition and has evolved out of the confines of christianity.  Just look at japan, a non-christian example, and their christmas fever.
