Was it wrong to crumble?

I just decided to mix my half-colonized mycobag. I noticed , that some of the substrate , which had been colonized was very hard... so I crumble it , and mix it thorugh the bag. Was this a bad idea? I mean , it shouldn't really should it? Graintransfering would be much the same , right?
Oh and: When its colonized, should I dunk the cake , just so it really has a sufficient amount of water?

Crumbling will not hurt anything, may just slow things down a bit because the mycelium now needs to recover...however, it will out and hopefully reach your uncolonized areas. Just give it a few days before you see any more growth while you let it recover. As far as dunking...do it only if you feel the cake is really dry.....depending on how long it has been colonizing, etc. Good luck.

Your fine, crumbling is ok, but just besure you don't compact your cake and crush and kill the mycelium. Just give it a day and it'll resume colonizing. As for dunking you can if you want, just cut off the bag, and dump in a solution of 10 parts water, and 1 part 3% hydrgen peroxide solution to stave off contams.

Ill case the bag anyway. Everything else would be a waste!
