Peroxide safe with coco fiber casing?
    #524293 - 01/18/02 08:36 AM (23 years, 5 months ago)

A friend of mine was thinking of mixing 1 part of peroxide with 10 parts of water, to re-hydrate his coco fiber, just as a precaution to keep contams out. His question is: Will the peroxide in any way harm the mycelia? Will it fruit like normal?

How thick of a casing of coco fiber could be used? 3/4 inch maybe? And should a layer of coco fiber also be placed UNDER the crumbled mycelia when casing?

That's quite a few questions I have, but I couldn't seem to find the answers anywhere when searching the forums. I think these are important things for a beginner using coco fiber to know.

At 1 part to 10 parts no it won't.

Yes.

Approxiametly the same depth as your substrate layer. 3/4 inch is good. The casing layer should not be thicker then your substrate layer.

Yes, it should be on both the bottom and top.

There ya go, peace.
