i remember being oblivios to drugs. then in middleschool i fell in love with pinkfloyd and tool and started playing guitar. and drug usage just seemed like a rite of passage for a musician.

If they don't just flat-out tell you that psychedelics make you go crazy they love to go on about tremors, nausea, anxiety, paranoia, a feeling of impending death, etc. like they're a typical part of the experience. Granted, shrooms fuck with my stomach pretty bad, but I've never had any of that other crap.

My friend had an aunt, I believe(could have been a cousin). It was a non formal get together, and we were on the subject of intelligence and being a responsible person. She's always impressed with me. This time, she was talking to his younger brother about staying away from drugs. She used me an example of why to stay away.

"See, he has an IQ of 160, and he's been at the top of his class his whole life. Honors everything. He joined the Marines at 18, and now is a successful supervisor inspector for the utilities with a nice home and wife. If you want to end up like him, you better stay off drugs".

I later pulled her aside and blew her mind.

**and then the thread went into a philosphical rant about how the drug war is a profiteering mechanism designed to rake in billions of tax dollars every year.**

...and it is...

My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you.                                    -The Joekenorer

These stories are hilarious.
Although its sad.

I live a few miles from Amsterdam and my drug education was honest luckily.
The education was given by people from a rehab center, most of them had used drugs themselves.

They put a lot of emphasis on responsible, safe use. They actually said shrooms can have really positive effects if used in a responsible way.
And how xtc will not harm you if you don't use more than once every 6-8 weeks. But they also told us about the possible negative effects if you abuse it.

Afterwards we went to a police station where a heroin addict talked to us about how his life had gone downhill since he started using. And told us it is extremely difficult to get off that shit if you've lost everything you have, while having no hope whatsoever.

So afterwards everyone was like: well, Im never going to touch heroin. And speed or cocaine could get kinda nasty too. But experimenting a bit with weed or shrooms should be ok.

Anyone to whom this feeling is alien, who is no longer capable of wonderment and lives in a state of fear is a dead man. To know that what is impenatrable for us really exists and manifests itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, whose gross forms alone are intelligible to our poor faculties - this knowledge, this feeling ... that is the core of the true religious sent iment. In this sense, and in this sense alone, I rank myself amoung profoundly religious men."

Nothing wrong with heroin or cocaine, its just about over ridng your impulses and their comes a time when its necessary to stop chasing the dragon. I bet you they've never brought up a thing called moderation in a dare meeting.

I'm a firm believer and advocate of harm reduction, its the way to go... unfortuanetly we in the good ol usa would rather predispose our citizens to a general lack of responsibility and give them far less credit then they deserve.

Reminds me of the time that they told me that "LSD lasts 12 hours, imagine having bugs crawl over your body for 12 hours straight"

I dectected the bullshit right away because no one in their right mind would take a drug so horrible, much less an epidemic of drug use.

i remember dare was cool because once the cop brought in like a half gram of weed to show us "what to be on the lookout for." it was my first peek. :crazy2:

dare was like stopped for two years after i "graduated" from the program because apparantly it offered so much useful information that the kids coming out of dare did more drugs than the kids who didnt take dare lol

dont know about that super cool "new dare" though.

I heard that they stopped doing the roleplaying sessions. Apparently all the kids wanted to play the guy who was high because it was a great excuse to goof off.

Very telling, I think.

haha man when we had to act it out we made huge joints made out of twisted paper and had a real good time. The best part was that one of the kids doing it with us was already a pot head! We had so much fun with those joints the teacher took them away from us..

You're definitely a sharp one. Much sharper than I was.

When I was in school in Canada we had some drug education that was pre-high school, and most of it was classifying drugs in general as 'bad', and including only long-term health problems and not differentiating between hard and soft drugs. Psychedelics, disassociates, hallucinogens in general were all grouped in one giant mush-slurry with things like amphetamines and barbiturates. None of the upsides were mentioned, and none of the long term health benefits were mentioned (naturally, I suppose).

It wasn't until I did my own research and respected myself and the substances enough that I got a clear view of what they truly are and can be used for. Ever since I've never had my trust in the government been so shaken, and never before had I felt so lied to and mentally violated.

Now I feel... liberated. Because although tacky to say so, knowledge is indeed power.

I'm really glad I got to go through dare! I know (because of the program) that all drugs are in group, which is labeled as "Really bad for you"! All of them do the same amount of terrible damage! Everything out there being sold on the street will fucking KILL YOU.

I never graduated from dare :tongue2:
