White Rabbit
One pill makes you larger And one pill makes you small, And the ones that mother gives you Don't do anything at all. Go ask Alice When she's ten feet tall. And if you go chasing rabbits And you know you're going to fall, Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar Has given you the call. Call Alice When she was just small. When the men on the chessboard Get up and tell you where to go And you've just had some kind of mushroom And your mind is moving low. Go ask Alice I think she'll know. When logic and proportion Have fallen sloppy dead, And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen says "off with her head!" Remember what the dormouse said: "Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"

erm.. correct me if I'm wrong, but in that song he says that she's drinking lysol at one point. I'm have no medical background, but I would think that would probably have more to do with her death in the song than anything.. just at thought.

She dies because of the lysol, not the shrooms. I would agree though, his statements do spread misinformation.
And for the people who don't give EM any credit, your just trying to turn a blind eye to the fact that he is indeed very talented. If you deny that fact you are just trying to fool yourself.

Eminem is smart, he know's how to portray himself and to "sell" himself to the right corporate producers, but I don't think he has too much talent. Anybody who can write poetry, and with the help of approx $150,000 in mixing equipment ( the same shit that makes backstreet boy's, n-sync.. sound good) and with a friend that owns his own record company can produce some cool sounding songs and get them sold. But I would say he does not have any real talent. He cannot even hold a steady note ( CD: The Eminem Show, Song 14 "Hailies song" he sounds like air expelling out of a dead cat ) The one thing I will give him credit for is the quiet noises in the background, or his overdubs. When tripping I notice them and they do trip me out and it accents the song, but sober his music is hard to listen to Imo.
There, I feel better after that rant

Honestly I have not heard any of his freestyle lyrics so I cannot speak for that. I have a few friends in the music industry and when I go down to play on their equipment at their place I can usually create similar beats or better (imo) within 15 minutes and all somebody has to do is just put some word's in there and you have the same quality shit eminem sells in the local record store. I don't have any strong musical talents other than I can read sheet music because of playing the piano as a kid. It does not take talent to make a beat these day's, and judging by his lyrics it don't take too much talent to make his style of song's.

well if what you say is true flush, that its cause of the equipment and being friends with dr dre...then how come dr dre is no where near as popular as eminem? obviously hes doing something right...wheather it be his music talent or his marketing skills

I am not saying that the equipment is making him popular, he know's what the public want's to hear so he creates the lyrics to suit his public, unfortunately there is an abundance of his type( thug's and thug wanabees ) who would love to hear what he is talking about. It does not take talent to make a rhyme about killing a ex girl, or about how shitty life is. Talk is cheap, anybody can do it. But to be able to convey a message that challenges the listener to think and analyze the meaning and do it thew song that they created to suit the lyrics takes talent. I don't think talent is bitching about hard times to a shitty techno beat a shaved ape could create. But then again talent is in the eye of the beholder..

I actually have 3 of Eminem's CD's, The up in smoke tour video, 2 of Dre's CD's, I use to listen to all of it almost religiously but then I grew up. I still like rap, but I listen to more "authentic" rap like Killa Klan Kaze, 36 mafia, DJ Paul, Krucifix, and koopsta knicca. When I say authentic I mean they tell stories of their life, not fabricated idea's of revenge. I have been listening to rap for 5 years now and for some reason I just got fed up with the sound of Aftermath records. the same produced shit over and over.. But to get back on topic I don't think that drug references should be made in this type of music ( eminem, dre, 50cent, whoever ) because of the audience. It is influential as much as they try to defend their music and I think it was a great idea to put lyric warnings on the labels. People should be more informed about what they are hearing but it is up to them to figure it out.
BTW, if anybody want's to continue the eminem debate, PM me and I will be glad to give you my opinion

damn, flush just schooled you man... koopsta knicca
somebody knows what they're talkin' about!
but I don't really think Eminem portrays any sort of thug image, considering he usually raps about he got beat the shit out of as a kid... I enjoyed Eminem up until his third CD. I enjoy the overly-offensive music, I think as the world turns by him is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

The problem is that for those who haven't tried shrooms (mainstream culture), it's hard to understand them. Shrooms have always been somewhat inexplainable, and since most people are too afraid to try them, they'll never know.

Flush, chech out the 8-mile dvd. They have a contest between all the extras in the crowd for a chance to rap in the movie. Some of them are decent I guess. But at the end of it, when they get to flow with em, he tears them apart. Especially when he raps with the girl. Damn he rips on her. I almost felt bad for her.
It really is a skill and freestyling takes a lot of talent.
