Music that gives you Goosebumps

Many people that I know have told me certain music gives them chills and goosebumps. I have to say that I also experience this often, whenever I'm listening to a song that has a very special meaning, I guess.

I suppose it's just an emotional connection to a song, perhaps formed from listening to it during a certain tulmultuous or especially happy points in your life... I think I've rarely gotten the tingling up and down my spine and throughout my limbs, hairs standing on end, from songs that I hear for the first time.

Personally, Tool does it more for me than any other band, probably because the Lateralus album guided my very first trip, which was on the most potent LSD blotter I've ever had. What a fucking day/night that was... things were never to be the same after that. I had auditory hallucinations persisting into the next day, and the food at work smelled... new. Like I was smelling it for the first time.

But, there are several songs by other bands that I've formed a kind of emotional attachment to, that trigger a powerful physiological response and give me this amazing sense of... well-being.

Anyone else got any thoughts/theories/experiences on this subject they want to share?

All the time man.  Music is medicine to me.  If I hear certain songs I can get a rush of Euphoria, or tingles like you mentioned, or get super melancholy.

Yes,

any acapella track from an older "Wailin' Jennies" album will do that to me.  Good music is very powerful and profound, even when it is light-hearted and fun it's still profound.  Like Phish "..read Icarus" or ?

Iccarus is really chillling!!!! Right to the bones!!!

For me, songs I have listened to while tripping, always bring me somewhat back to the trip. Meaning the audio sounds much clearer, and much different than I remember before I had tripped to it.

For me, the filler Makisupa Policeman on Phish Volume 11 really gets me going. Real low and funky bass line just blows my mind everytime. No goosebumps, but a unique feeling of "deja vu", crossed with total amazement of the sound being played, multiplied by a knowledge of a supreme being who created these incredible musicians, only to program their lives to intertwine, for the purpose of filling the world with some of the most amazing sound ever heard

TOOL: Lateralus, Pushit (live of course), Wings for Marie 1 & 2, and No Quarter to me are the songs that affect me the most. Ive gotten goosebumps to just about every tool song, but these touch me more than anything ive ever listened to. Wings was strange, i had a hard time accepting 10,000 days, after really listening to it about 80 million times, i love it. Wings has nearly brought me to tears many times. Thats one song that truly gives you a glimpse into a mans agony over the loss of his mother, and it really speaks to me. Ive never had a song/band affect me so much, but i feel its definitely for the better.

What we call music is only a particular combination of sonic vibrations in a certain order.

There is no objective difference between a beautiful song and a discordant song.  Aliens will probably have some form of music too, and we won't find it moving.

It doesn't even have to be an emotional connection
for me.  Sometimes songs have notes that naturally
sends chills down my spine or give me goosebumps. 
A day in the life by the beatles always, guaranteed,
sends chills down my spine on the last note.  Same
with Atom Heart Mother Suite by Pink Floyd and
St. Stephen from the Live/Dead album and Whipping
Post From Allman Brothers at Fillmore East.  There's
so many more.  Nothing gets my blood pumping
as consistently as the dead though. Theres a climax
of every song that just has me rolling in euphoria. 
Music is a fantastic and beautiful form of communication.

I listen to all kinds of music but for some reason progressive house/trance is much more likely to give me those chills in my spine.
