Colin Powell the final nail in McCains coffin?

It didn't take a genius to realise Palin shouldn't be allowed within a thousand light years of the presidency but at least Colin Powell had the guts to say it. Is his endorsement of Obama the final nail in McCains coffin?

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell announced Sunday that he will be voting for Sen. Barack Obama, citing the Democrat's "ability to inspire" and the "inclusive nature of his campaign."


Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says he is voting for Barack Obama.

"He has both style and substance. I think he is a transformational figure," Powell said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"Obama displayed a steadiness. Showed intellectual vigor. He has a definitive way of doing business that will do us well," Powell said.

Powell, a retired U.S. general and a Republican, was once seen as a possible presidential candidate himself.

Powell said he questioned Sen. John McCain's judgment in picking Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate because he doesn't think she is ready to be president.

here's the video

and the second nail in the coffin from this weekend is the announcement that the obama campaigne raised 150 million in the month of september. that shatters all records - the second best was 67 million set by obama this past summer.

Do you have any evidence that the Council on Foreign Relations has direct involvement in US Presidential campaigns? Furthermore, do you have any evidence that Powell is some sort of spokesperson for your supposed New World Order? And why would the CFR bother to publicly endorse a candidate on Meet The Press nonetheless?

And if the CFR is so deeply intertwined in presidential campaigns as you suggest, then why do you believe that Powell's endorsement is more significant than Henry Kissinger's involvement with and quasi-endorsement of McCain?

As I suggest?  Please show me where I said "The CFR is intertwined in US presidential campaigns".

You are putting all kinds of words into my mouth that I never said, or implied.  Here are a few examples:

Colon was riding the fence to see which one he'd endorse.  Which of the two will advance me the most, politically?  If he truly thought that Obama was the better candidate, why the hell did he wait until so close to the election to announce his endorsement?  Would he have endorsed Obama if O. was behind in the polls?  ....I think NOT

Not like Colin Powell's endorsement legitimizes Obama's campaign. Eight years ago, lots of people respected Colin Powell. I'm not sure if he has as high of a respect level as he used to though. Let's not forget that Colin Powell was the "final nail in the coffin" to borrow the OP's phrase regarding the war in Iraq. I love how Brokaw shoved that in his face on Meet The Press today. That was killer.

It's so shitty that he, of all people, has to now wear the stain of the Bush administration for the rest of his life. I've always dug him. I have to feel like this endorsement, which was very well said, is some sort of payback.

Don't take what I said the wrong way. I've got a lot of respect for what Colin Powell has achieved in his life. I suppose I should choose my words better. I have no respect for his current political views.

I think that his public endorsement of a borderline commie is proof that he has gone batshit crazy.

Likewise, I think actually believing that Obama is a "borderline Commie" either shows a lack of knowledge about communism or a much deeper problem like the one you suggested above.

I understand Communism very well and thankfully that knowledge comes from textbooks not firsthand experience. But my knowledge of Communism is not the topic at hand here.
