Ding ding ding
    #9067280 -

A cousin of mine recently ate mushrooms for the first time. I've heard several personal accounts of people having eye opening experiences of various levels, and I have an ongoing collection of my own inspirational moments on psychedelics.

He knows I am an enthusiast somewhat, so he decided to try and ring me up. The first call was a series of confusion, stuttering, and laughing... concluded with an abrupt hang-up. The second call soon after, he immediately exclaimed "I get it now, I get it!" When I asked him what he was specifically referring to, he merely said "IT!", and then proceeded to bust into nervous giggles again.

When I answered the next phone call I received from him that night, he immediately proclaimed "it's just paper!". Again, I asked him what he was referring to, and he said "money... it's just paper."

This is just yet another example of how mushrooms can lead one to breaking through everyday concepts, and questioning the real meaning of things that to most people appear so obvious.

Another one bites the dust.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

I love the realization when tripping that apeople work 40 hours a week for paper.  Money makes no sense when tripping.

I do not like money and I do I work to make money, I work because I like my job.  I do understand the concept of money, just not while tripping

I think it is too easy to reduce money to paper. Sure it is WEIRD in the sense that it is paper. But it has to be something. It used to be metal, and we still have coins. But Paper is much easier (and its actually plastic over here).

Money means a lot more than just paper. Perhaps when you go and try to buy things on shrooms or acid, you will learn more about what 'money' 'just is'.

It is a lot more than paper because people treat it like more than paper.

Most things in this world are valued because of how everyone agrees to see them, not how they actually are on an existential level

If we were all tripping in a loving family, then money would not have much use.

But we are not all in the same family, in fact human society is built in seperating us and requiring us to judge eachother.

If I go up to the chinese woman in the corner store, why should she let me have those rolling papers? Why should she let me eat her fruit?

In a family (in the ideal sense), we share things because we know we will be shared with back. Its just sort of agreed amongst certain families (be they based on genes or friendship or common circumstance, etc) that people will help when it comes to the crunch.

but the lady at the shop has no reason to believe that she can rely on me in teh future. I could give her my word, but anyone can give their word on anything. Without the unspoken agreement within a social group of pair relationship, the shopowner requires an agreement that is shared by both her, me, and also the Law, who will try to ensure that I fulfil my agreement (and give my special agreement-papers to her).
With my agreement, she can go and pass on my agreement as if it was her own, just as I recieved the money from someone else's agreement (or else I took it)

Money only means nothing to the people that have it.  Money is very real and a useful tool for any civilized society.  Unless you want to go back to the barter system and start trading your goats for chicken eggs, respect the concept of money!

Actually I think that money means more for people that do have it.. people that dont have it dont care about it, they care about what it buys them. But people with money start to value money itself

In my opinion, money is just symbolic for time and connections. Time, because when you work somewhere, that is what YOU are selling to the employer and what YOU are wasting of your life. The more of your time you give, the more paper they give you. Connections, because the time concept is not entirely fair. Many people have access to more paper for unfair reasons, like being born into paper, being a white man in a Western country, knowing the boss, etc. The allocation of paper is not consistent so it cannot represent a consistent definition.

However, the main point of his trip and my posting of it, is that mushrooms can lead everyday people to reevaluate themselves and the world they live in. Whatever ideas and opinions people behold will always differ, thankfully. But as long as we all move towards questioning and suspending all conclusions, then I think we are much better off.
