Excuses, excuses, and more excuses.  If ACORN were signing up Republican voters rather than Democrat voters, you would be throwing a fit.

Ooooh, from DailyKos.  Gospel I tell ya.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/10102008/news/politics/1_voter__72_registrations_132965.htm

Quote:
CLEVELAND - A man at the center of a voter-registration scandal told The Post yesterday he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times, in apparent violation of Ohio laws.

"Sometimes, they come up and bribe me with a cigarette, or they'll give me a dollar to sign up," said Freddie Johnson, 19, who filled out 72 separate voter-registration cards over an 18-month period at the behest of the left-leaning Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

Left-leaning:rofl2:

Do you not find it disturbing that Barry has close ties to a bunch of racketeers?

Quote:
ACORN's political wing has endorsed Barack Obama for president, but Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the Obama campaign in Ohio, said ACORN has no role in its get-out-the-vote drive.

During the primary season, however, the Obama camp paid another group, Citizen Service Inc., $832,598 for various political services, according to Federal Elections Commission filings. That group and ACORN share the same board of directors.

More :rofl2:

Quote:
It's a right Johnson will exercise. "Yeah, I've registered enough - I might as well vote."

Yes, but the question is "How many times?"

Ah, I remember the good old days (2000) when Republicans were the only ones who knew how to steal an election.  Unfortunately, what they did was much worse than what is going on here.  It seems that Republicans/Conservatives are quick to point the finger, while forgetting about the events of the 2000 election and Bush v. Gore.

But yes, what ACORN did is inexcusable.

How is this act connected to Obama in any way? If one person in the group does something bad, the whole group is suddenly bad? Seems like it'd be real easy to just buy someone off to discredit a group in that case. Anyhow, where is this proven? Have indictments been issued yet? Will it turn out to be another false cry of voter fraud?

You guys are REALLY pulling at strings now.

You might have a case if this was an isolated incident.  But it's not.  And some ACORNS have already been convicted.  For, among other things, voter fraud.  They are a criminal enterprise.  RICO here we come.

How the GOP is trying to steal this election:

Furthermore, whatever the sins of the Democrats, they are not -- after eight years of George W. Bush, the cheater in chief -- the minority party. That is the status of the GOP, which absolutely cannot win unless it can choke the surge of change-demanding voters who intend to cast a ballot on Nov. 4. God knows, they have no chance of winning on the issues, the strength of the disastrous McCain-Palin ticket or even their ability to spin and lie. Their best chance to win is by keeping Democrats from voting. Consider a few of the ways they are trying to do this:

1. Use the bureaucracy of the state to kill, or at least maim, the democratic process. In Florida and other states, as the Ledger reported, something known as the "no match, no vote" law is being used to strike as many voters as possible from the rolls. Where voters' registration information doesn't precisely match driver's license and other information in state data bases to a T, sorry, you aren't eligible to vote. Think of it as disenfranchisement by typo. And certain ethnic groups, such as Hispanics and Asians, would likely be disproportionately affected (which is the point), because their surnames are more likely to be transposed or bungled at least once.

2. Send out bad information to target groups, such as out-of-state students. For instance, the Republican clerk of El Paso County, Colo., informed local students: ". . . if your parents still claim you on their income tax returns, and they file that return in a state other than Colorado, you are not eligible to register to vote or vote in Colorado." Not only is this an outright falsehood, it's virtually the same falsehood that Republican bureaucrats tried to fob off on students in Virginia and South Carolina as well, belying their protests that this was somehow an honest mistake.

3. Spread creepy misinformation anonymously. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, fliers in black neighborhoods of Philadelphia recently showed up warning residents that undercover cops would be prowling the polling places, arresting would-be voters with so much as an unpaid traffic ticket on his or her record.

4. Balance every accusation of vote suppression with the charge that Democrats are perpetrating voter fraud with their hugely successful registration drives. Throw as many obstacles as possible into the voting process, especially in low-income, ethnic and student neighborhoods. Find as many legalistic excuses as possible to challenge voters and, win or lose the challenge, you slow the lines and cause people to leave without voting.

And of course, supplementing these and many other dirty tricks will be the X-factor, the hackability of touchscreen and other forms of electronic voting. When -- or, let us pray, if -- the vote confounds polls and expectations, shrug and call it closet racism.

> Seuss, don't even begin to assume what I'd do.

Am I wrong?  If there were a 'community organization' out there fraudulently registering Republican voters after receiving nearly a million dollars from the McCain campaign, would you be "throwing a fit" or would you be defending them the way you are defending ACORN?  Based upon your previous posts, it is more of an extrapolation than an assumption.

Come on now Supernovasky, you jump on any chance you get to bash on McCain and the Republican party. If ACORN were registering Republican voters you would be all over this like a fly on shit. Dare I say that you would make a string of threads greater than your Sarah Palin chronicles... well I don't know, that would be kind of tough.

It's not just a single person. They are alleged to be registering phony voters in several states. That guy must get around.

Do you dispute the convictions?  Wiki is your friend.  Or not, depending on whether you like their facts.

Here's another one:

Quote:
In Lake County, Indiana, ACORN submitted over 7,000 voter registration forms before the October 6 deadline. All of the first 2,100 forms processed were frauds and the remaining 5,000 have been placed aside for later processing to sort out the bogus forms from the legitimate ones. Sally LaSota, a Democratic member of the Election Board said that whoever filed the forms broke the law.

Quote:
ACORN is a huge organization. There will always be people who do bad things in all organizations. But, in this case, all you've got are allegations, no proof. Show me some court cases, they shouldn't be that hard to find.

It isn't.  Educate YOURSELF.
Quote:
I also like how your site has very few examples where criminal charges actually succeeded. Remember, Acorn by LAW is required to turn in ALL registration cards. They've gotten in trouble before and had to prove that they DID raise red flags when turning it in.

Which is why they keep getting investigated, indicted, convicted.

ACORN office in Vegas raided in voter-fraud probe

By OSKAR GARCIA – 2 days ago

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada authorities seized records Tuesday from a group they accused of submitting fraudulent voter-registration forms — including for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys.

"Tony Romo is not registered to vote in the state of Nevada, and anybody trying to pose as Terrell Owens won't be able to cast a ballot on Nov. 4," said Secretary of State Ross Miller, referring to star players on the pro football team.

State authorities raided the headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a group that works to register low-income people.

Miller said the raid was part of a monthslong investigation, and he contended the group had submitted registration forms that used false information or duplicated information on multiple forms. He did not estimate how many.

Bertha Lewis, interim chief organizer for ACORN, said the group has been working with election officials to weed out fraudulent forms from those submitted by the canvassers it hires.

"Today's raid by the secretary of state's office is a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than to discredit our work registering Nevadans," Lewis said.

"For the past 10 months, anytime ACORN has identified a potentially fraudulent application, we turn that application in to election officials separately and offer to provide election officials with the information they would need to pursue an investigation or prosecution of the individual," Lewis said.

She said ACORN had turned in 46 problem applications submitted by 33 former employees to election officials in the Las Vegas area, where it has registered 80,000 people.

According to its national Web site, the group has registered 1.3 million people nationwide for the Nov. 4 election. It has encountered complaints of fraud stemming from registration efforts in Wisconsin, North Carolina, New Mexico, Michigan, Ohio and Missouri.

"The fact is, this is hard work and there were some people that probably sat down on a couch and filled out names out of a phone book," said Matthew Henderson, Southwest regional director for ACORN. "That's really what we're talking about here — not an attempt to steal an election."

Miller said no one had been charged or arrested in Nevada.

His spokesman, Bob Walsh, said investigators were using information from various sources, including the FBI and the U.S. attorney's office in Nevada.

"You don't have to read too many cop novels to know that sometimes people will tell you a grain of truth to try to hide the rest of the truth," Walsh said. "I'm certainly not suggesting that ACORN is that nefarious, but at the same time just because they handed over 50 to you doesn't mean there aren't 150 others out there."

Can't they come up with some better names than the starting lineup of the fucking Dallas Cowboys? :imslow:

CNN Exposes How ACORN Steals Votes & Ties to Obama

Here's the transcript: Clicky

I highly suggest watching the video though, it's very funny. In one part they go to a fast food restaurant where a man by the name of Jimmy Johns (who was registered to vote by ACORN) is reported to live.
