I Don't Want to Get a Job
    #8957550 -

It's not that I'm lazy.  I've held jobs for years with no problem relating to laziness.  I just feel like the idea of work conflicts with how things should be.

I don't want to become part of the capitalistic world.  I don't want my money to be controlled or even influenced by the government (or any large entity, for that matter).  I don't agree with the idea of working for another person.  When I'm working for someone I feel like I am disrespecting myself.  I think my time is worth more than most places would pay, and I don't like the idea of someone having control over what I do.

Maybe I need to move to a commune.  Or maybe I think too much.  Or maybe I'm just that dependent on self-control.

I know there's not much I can do about it.  I can't think of any other realistic alternatives.  Basically need to just accept it as the way it is.  I just wanted to vent.

1) Save up for some sort of self-sufficient farm?

2) Start a cult, enjoy the slave labor?

3) Turn one of your hobbies into something profitable? Worked out well for me.

Communes generally involve work...see item 2.

Haha.  See I would be willing to work in a commune.  I would see direct results from my work and would have a ton of control over my situation.

What hobby is that, and what have you done with it?

I've been seeing that idea as my most likely option, but I don't have many hobbies that could bring in much money.  I guess I should look for more, eh?

But then being cult leader could be nice.... :satan:

My main hobby has always been music. I started off thinking it would be impossible to get my music through such a saturated market, and I started off writing songs for money, commercial jingles, small-time producing, all under a pseudonym.
Eventually I sucked it up, got my close musician friends together, punched them in the balls till they caved in, we started a band, and - lo and behold - it is now our main source of income. I have never been happier. There is literally no "work"; we're getting paid to do something we do for fun anyways.

What are your hobbies and interests, good sir?

Of course...the easiest and most taken route here is to just get a goddamn job. Go through every work-hour as a zombie, numb yourself, block it out, just do what you need to do. Of course the worst part of this is the drug-testing, the infuriating coworkers, the stress of any decent-paying job. Social interaction and work don't always go hand in hand.

In a commune, people are expected to work.  In fact, you may even be told what to do while in the commune since "sitting on your ass" isn't conducive to helping the commune/society.

Hard work is a virtue.  The happiest people I know are hard workers, and they enjoy work.  Even if somebody else pays you, you always work for yourself.  If you think your time is worth more than people will pay you, then find a way to make your time more valuable to them.

Nobody controls what you do.  You can do whatever you want.  You can lie in a ditch and do nothing if you want, but you probably want to do something that generates some income.  You are always self-employed, even if you have a boss.  You agree to do work for agreed-upon compensation, like any business owner.

I think you're being idealistic and it will hold you back.  The 'capitalist world' can provide a great life for you if you don't get all self-righteous about it.  If you have ever bought anything, then you are already a part of it.  Don't act like you're 'above' making money. Do what I do: I go into work and make the most money for my boss that I can every day.  Make your time undeniably valuable; be indispensable to your employer, then you can ask for more money and you will get it... they won't be able to afford to lose you.  Make a point of providing more value and you will a) feel awesome at work, and b) make a lot more money.

If you don't want to work then dont work. If you don't want to be a hippy who asks people for money, learn some wilderness survival skills.

I don't want to leave in a world where the government takes my money (by force) and gives it to punks like you (after they take their "fair" share). If you want free checks, and hate capitalism -- find a radical left nation where everyone gets them, people live in poverty together, and those who work too hard or become too successful are looked down upon and punished.

I have never heard that, my grandparents lived there for a couple of years and they never said anything about poverty. Of course my grandpa worked offshore drilling for texaco so maybe they had money and no one else did who knows. I will have to look into this.

Oh yah I almost forgot. Become a coke fiend, suck dick for coke, problem solved.

:congrats:
I could not explain to you howmuch that is how i am recently feeling towards that matter.
At this point in my life i dont want to work for money, i do not even care for money anymore.
I had been working for years on end and one day i finally had enough and resigned from my job.
That was a few months ago after a life changing experience i had.
Since that time my eyes have been opened to many great things!
I am becoming more conscious everyday.

Anyhow there is no real need for money it is infact an esculated way to control the majority of the world.
Everything has a price on its head materialistic or not.
Why is it we humans have become so susceptible to materialism?
Because, this whole regime is spacifically taylored to suit those in power, that is the way it all started, right from the very begining.
Greed...
Life as we know it in this technocratic world is NOT "normal" by any means. And that saddens me.
For all of the children of today and the past including myself, who are/were forced upon a world so un-reliant on nature is dissapointing.
Why should we be pushed into such a greedy world and be virtually forced to contribute to making this planets even worse than it already is?
Once again, those in power must be kept happy.
And alot of promised materialism can cloud anyones mind. Even the strongest of people.
Nothing as we live it today has been genuinely taylored for us.
Everything is infact a lie, we are brainwashed into setting a standard to live by for our whole life.
Why?
Once again, for those who infact hold the power.
So as far as i can tell nothing is going to change, that is unless there are more people out there who are prepared to throw away their fake life insearch for a REAL one.
And hope that others slowly but surely follow suite.

By creating offspring in this technocratic influenced lifestyle, we are falling right into the hands of those in control and supplying them exactly what they want.
A sure future with high possibilities of nothing ever changing.
I can no longer condone this, and feel not one person should.

I refuse to do what they expect of me!
I will not contribute to helping my countries economy any longer.
I think its fair enough.
Someone started by making the "rules", i didnt choose to be born into this world under these preposterous laws and guidelines!
And fair enough if absolutely EVERYBODY wants out.
Not that it will happen, though the right is definately there.

Life is too precious to spend it making other people greedy, not happy, just down right greedy.
Fat cats.
When you are not gaining anything for yourself besides experience and knowledge of what it is you are doing for a profession.
Even though in that case your time can be much better spent on doing something that could honestly benefit you much more as a life experience.

Why should anyone work their whole life to buy them what should only come natural?
When you die, material possessions you will not be taking with you, so what is the point?
We are only dumbing ourselves by pointlessly feeding our addictions with what is today.

I personally am sick of feeling like im under control,
im sick of feeling like i have to live upto a standard otherwise i will be frowned upon.
Why will "they" not realise they are the ones who are being manipulated by playing "sheep"?
This world sure has its people by the balls....

I'm so glad that so many people don't think like you guys.  I am greatful that at least some people in this world strive to make a difference.  I look at all the amazing things humans have done:  We've gone to the moon, we can perform open heart surgery, computers, the internet, electricity, indoor plumbing etc. etc. etc.

I'm glad that some people work hard, and not everyone sits around wasting life away in their mom's basement smoking pot and philosophizing about how "precious and beautiful" life is.

Your ideals are a pathetic excuse for being a complete waste of life.  You have one life, do something with it.

I am grateful for open heart surgery, computers, electricity, etc as well, but I think it is all relied upon too much.  All that convenience has people blinded and drugged.  That's all it is -- convenience.  Sometimes I hate convenience.  I don't want to be comfortable.  I want to be alive doing that things I want to do, not sitting in front of a TV every night while I wait to go to work the next day.

I don't want to sit around in my mom's basement smoking pot...that's far from even coming close to what I want to do.

I'm having a hard time putting how I feel about this into words..

I was being sarcastic, Norway is one of the richest countries in the world and the people have much more money, and a higher standard of living, than those in the US.
