First graft

I attempted my first graft today, so far all seems well. I'm not sure really what to do with them now.
any suggestions?

anyway the scion seems a bit too large for the stock, it may still be ok, but you should have used a bigger stock for that scion...

50/50 :shrug:

just leave it well alone, don't move it around or knock it and the chances of it surviving will be better...
so long as the vascular rings are in contact it should take ok, just with it being such a large button on a small stock it won't be very stable until it has grown quite alot...
leave the tape on it for a while until the join has healed very well :thumbup:



look at the one i did (left hand side, second from the back) that button is too large for the stock but it has taken ok, so don't lose hope just yet :yesnod:

does it matter about light for now. its out of the way were nothing is going to knock it but there's not much light there.

iv put the bottom half of the loph button back in the soil, will it grow more lophs?

if you left a few aeroles for it to sprout new pups from, then yes.

On one of my previous grafts, I had one side on correctly, and the other was a little off the stock, and it looked like little fibers came out of the vascular ring and attached to the bottom of the cutting on top of it? 

is this even possible?

What kind of cactus is that? I'm going to grow San Pedro soon, I was wondering if anyone knew if cacti need a certain soil to grow in or if they will grow fine with regular potting soil.  I've seen bags of cactus soil at walmart but I'd prefer to make it myself if I can.  Any suggestions? Thanks!

but the answer is yes, theyll thrive better in some soil you spend a lil time preparing.
