Improvised, cheap, simple dryer.

LOL.................

Other peaples ingenuity -- never ceases to amaze me.

Was at a foaf's uncles cousins sisters place in a trailer park, the other side of the RR tracks, west of east TimBuckToo  :smirk:, this last weekend.

In his back shed, I saw a gizmo going that was curious .

Turns out, It was his shroom dryer.

He had simply bolted a small inexpensive used electric squirral cage fan to the removable plastic lid of a 5 gallon plastic bucket. Then drilled a complete double ring of 1/4 inch holes about an inch above the bottom of the bucket.

He simply took a peice of porious clean cloth -- like a tee shirt -- set his fresh picked cleaned shrooms on the cloth, placed it so it sagged about half way down inside the bucket, put the lid on -- which held the cloth in place & plugged in the fan. Lots of air forced in top - through cloth - shrooms & out the bottom edge.

For bigger amounts, he simply used layers of cloth, spread apart - one atop the other in the bucket, held the same way.

That little hummer worked like a champ. Easy, cheap, simple & effective .

6T.

Sounds like it would work well. A method I enjoyed using in the past was to place a fine mesh screen on top of the input of a fan and letting them dry there. Worked quite well.

LOL,

He is no wizard, though.

He showed me a big ass casing of dung/compost mix spawned with colonized rye. The big ass container was clear .

The tub was on a rack, with light all around. He had as many shrooms growing invitro on the BOTTOM & sides, as the casing had on top..........grin.

What was funny was, they were all growing -- great guns & big.

Oh well, he's a casing newbie & won't make that same mistake -- twice.

6T

Still sounds like he did pretty good.  You didn't mentioned him having to throw the casing out due to contamination, and it was fruiting well..  I bet he'll work out the kinks and start getting monster yields soon.

Okay, that idea rocks! I have been trying to come up with a 'fan box' kind of solution.

Thanks for the idea.
