Two roads diverged in a wood...
    #8718450 -

there are two pivotal struggles that an individual can go through that help shape them into a fully developed adult. one is: am i a good person or a bad person? the other is: what do people think of me?

the second one is a bullshit, dead-end waste of time. it is just a distraction. don't go down that path, it's a red herring. go down the first path. the people that go down the first path are the real people, and sometimes they seem crazy or incomprehensible but they are thinking and doing something real and interesting and new and significant, and the people that go down the second path just confuse everything with bullshit and artifice and posturing and asserting themselves and bickering and positioning and it's all just a fucking joke waste of time and it's pathetic. don't fall for that trap, it will waste your time and energy and distract you and turn you into a cardboard cutout persona, a plastic shell that you developed because it seemed like it would be to your advantage in the whole bullshit game. it's all a trick and a trap and a timesuck, designed to take away your creative power and put it toward a meaningless power structure, just built up so certain people can feel more powerful and important than they really are.

just stop being so fucking fake and plastic and empty and take a step back and ask yourself why? is it really worth it? does that empty, superficial sense of power really satisfy you on a deeper level? no, and that's why you keep chasing that elusive sense of genuine contentness and satisfaction further and further with your four yellow cars and your younger, plastic-er, blonder, bigger boobed wife and your skinny thighs that don't touch and your hair that's thin and falling out because you killed it with peroxide and your viagra and your bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit and you get increasingly frantic as you rush down that fucking path and you'll NEVER FIND CONTENTMENT BECAUSE IT'S THE WRONG FUCKING PATH YOU STUPID SHIT go on the other path - therein lies happiness. if you just keep running down the second path, you'll do nothing but exhaust yourself and depress yourself and you'll get richer and richer and thinner and thinner and plasticker and plasticker and YOU WONT EVER BE HAPPY NEVER EVER EVER because it's the wrong goddamn path get on the other fucking path people what are you doing with yourselves???? how many boats and houses and websites and cds and dresses and plastic surgery operations will it take to convince you that you will never be happy that way? GODDAMN IT

fuck

fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck fuck you stupid people frustrate me so much and you know what, yeah, i am a condescening bitch and i think i'm above you and i really think that, because i think you're wasting yourtime chasing stupid bullshit that won't ever satisfy you and it makes me laugh at you and it makes me sad for you, too.

you're the lame vote. and that sucks. don't be the lame vote. stupid. you make me tired with your stupid pointless wasteful bullshit.

people have to torture themselves because it's in their nature. but you get to pick your poison. how do you want to torture yourself? do you want to ask yourself, over and over and over and over and over and fucking over: Am I a good person? for the rest of your life? or do you want to ask yourself over and over and over for the rest of your pathetic fucking life: what do people think of me?

like REALLY? isn't the correct path SO FUCKING OBVIOUS ALREADY? and yet it must not be because most people are running running running along the wrong goddamn path, asking themselves "what do people think of me? what will they think of me if i graduate from that school? what will they think of me if i do this job? what will they think of me if i wear this and date this person and buy this book and movie and record and write this shit or that shit on my goddamn fucking facebook profile motherFUCK

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH stop that!!!!! IT WONT MAKE YOU HAPPY EVER EVER EVER EVER!

go down the other path. the one where you ask yourself: am i a good person or a bad person? you'll still torture yourself, but you'll also have a MUCH better shot at actually creating something worthwhile, actually PRODUCING SOMETHING REAL and accomplishing something real with your fucking life and even BEING HAPPY and content and satisfied on that deeper, elusive level that all you idiots are so frantically chasing

An incredible whiney rant. A post that has no clue about itself. Worthy of a three year old. That would make you too young to be posting here.

I'm sorry. Is it really so childish to be frustrated by the sense that so much of society seems to be brainwashed and controlled by consumerism and pointless, shallow competitiveness? I thought it would be obvious that I was lashing out at the predominant mindset among the unenlightened in mainstream society, and certainly not at the readers of this message board. I had hoped I might encounter some kindred spirits here, who are similarly disenchanted with the silly games we play to pass the time.

I'm disenchanted.  What should we do about it?

My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I don't know yet. But I always find it comforting to encounter others who claim to see through those silly games.

Yes, yes, YES....!!!    POWER TO THE PEOPLE....!!!!    :crankey:

Moderation is key to anything in life, but what is it that truly satisfies one on a deeper level....?

I have to disagree with the "how many cds will it take to convince you that you will never be happy that way?" - (shortened) part....
Music definitely effects mood, and can very much make a person happy and in good spirits - it moves the soul on an emotional level....
If even on a superficial level at first, with time, it can bleed into a deeper level of contentment thru repetition....
CDs let you listen to music without the onslaught of LOUD commercial advertisements blasting from a commercial play list radio station.....

You have presented a very one sided view of what not to do to be happy, but you haven't given a clue to how one would find true contentment - in your view....    What is the your view of:  ""PRODUCING SOMETHING REAL and accomplishing something real with your fucking life and even BEING HAPPY and content and satisfied on that deeper, elusive level"".....??

What is "real", and how do you propose that everyone would find equal contentment and satisfaction from your (un)proposed "real" method....?

You live in a society based on accepted rules and "games", and I challenge you to find a way to live to find contentment in this world without playing any of those games - in any way....     It might be feasible if you were starting the world all over and repopulating it with only your beliefs, but one outcry is not going to change the monster force that it has already become....    :ohwell:    I have a feeling that you would just end up creating different games and rules to skirt the existing games and rules....

But, scream at the wall to your heart's content if it brings you a deeper level of satisfaction, it isn't real either....!

I didn't mean to imply that music was a part of the problem. I was just riffing on the way that some people try to define themselves through material possessions, in the hopes that their possession collection will shape the way others perceive them.

There is nothing inherently wrong with accumulating CDs or trying to be skinny or bleaching your hair or anything else I threw out there, so long as people are doing those things for themselves, rather than as an attempt to build a more impressive persona.

And I realize that this is a fairly negative, one-sided rant...but I think that can be productive, as a start. A revolution of any type begins when you reject something that doesn't work, and then attempt to create something new that works better. The rejection is only the beginning. But I think it's something worth discussing.

When one aims to be good, it requires more deepness of thought and an iteration process less frequent with the society. She describess more peaceful/mature/chilled approach to life.

If you were to reject something out of spite only, you are more likely to adopt a method that is less fulfilling - just because it is a different way  than you had grown to despise.....  However, if you discover a better way of doing something, and adopt it, it will not be spite driving your hasty decision for change....  In general....

If your whole rant is resentment for the "keeping up with the Jone's" mindset, then that is a pretty easy thing to solve for yourself....
No rant is really needed IMO....    Just don't keep up with the Jone's.....!

I am actually quite content and happy with my life, most of the time. I believe that I am on the second path, the one for people who don't define themselves based on the opinions of others. I  don't concern myself with "keeping up with the Jones's" anymore. But I did at one point, and I look around me and I see so many people who do define themselves and their own happiness and self-worth based on an arbitrary set of standards put in place by society. And I find it sad and frustrating to see so many people chasing happiness by buying stuff and trying to control how they are perceived by others. That's why I went off on a rant (while under the influence of various substances). Because I want other people to be happy, too. I think the world would be a better place, with a more positive energy, if there were fewer people on the first path and more people on the second path.

Just as you did, people have to discover that for themselves....
There are lots of changes that could be made to make people more happy, but those people have to recognize it, and make those changes for themselves....
You can lead a horse to water....

However, unloading a rant can make you feel better sometimes....  :tongue2:
There must have been an event that lead up to this....?

Not any particular event, just a shroomy conversation about people who have the potential to be interesting and genuine if only they would stop hiding their real personalities in some misguided attempt to gain power and popularity with fake, constructed personas.

ALL persona's are constructed. What makes one part of my personality real, more so than any other part I "construct?"

"Interesting" and "genuine" are subjective judgments. As for motives, power and popularity may be one. But again this is a subjective point of view.

And if I am in any way perceiving your thoughts accurately, your persona...who is the real you, underneath this frustration and condemnation of others trying to find their way through life, just like everyone else?

Here's the problem dude. You are just about as brainwashed as everyone else (we all are) but you think your shit don't stink. That's what I was commenting on. The rest is an old topic here.
