The Greatest Challenge
    #8620693 -

is to get to 20,000 posts!

Just kidding.

IMO the greatest challenge a human can undertake is to accept life unconditionally. To accept what presents itself and even if we don't like it, agree with it, and even if we want to work to change it, we accept it as an essential component of what is. We can accept others and ourselves as we are, even if we don't like the actions, we can accept unconditionally the fact that everyone is doing their best to be happy, whether skillfully or unskillfully, getting the results they want or not.

To do this with everything you will ever encounter takes guts of steel and most of all love, love of life just as it is. The real love, not the conditional thing we call love. (I love you if you're in my family, my tribe, love me back, do what I say, do what I like, don't hate me or hurt me, etc.)

The person who does this best is the most "enlightened" IMO. Like the word says, they are lighter and don't have to carry their fears and addictions so close.

It's by far the biggest challenge you can undertake IMO. Just take a look at how many take it and you will realize how challenging it is.

I'm really not too good at it but it's the only skill that I really want to master.

Well you are in luck today. I can accept life unconditionally for you for only a small service charge!

junkie.

I'm the same way. When I first started meditating and realized being an open hearted person was the only thing I really wanted, I had this fear of "atrophy of everything else". Though everything becomes less important, unless the ego swoops in to screw things up, everything else is related to that one skill, so it actually makes mastering other things easier.

why there is reality and patterned, law-like consistency at all, rather than noise or non-reality is not a question physics answers. It's a question physics presupposes an answer to in order to provide other answers.

I accept life.  It is malleable to an extent.  I want the power to change myself and it, with my heart...  And mind, hands, and voice.  In that way I don't fully accept.  I suffer but it is good.  I learn.

Enlightenment & Unconditional love are synonymous imo

And it IS the biggest challenge a human can undertake. The only challenge worth taking imo.

But id also have to say that no "one" can do or acheive it, "you" can disappear then unconditional love is revealed, but no individual mind/ego can love unconditionally and keep its "me-ness", because "me" is all about likes & dislikes.

In truth no one can love every one, but they can love the same beingness in everyone. If you recognize the essential impersonal Self in all beings then loving is natural and not something thats hard to do.

imo no ego can love unconditionally because ego is built upon conditions.

Agree 100%.

Would you say love and unconditional acceptance are the same thing?

I was at this "state of mind" for about a 2-3 month span of my life - some years ago....
The mundane was blissful, everything was absolutely perfect - and was inherently understood, confidence of steal, no fears,
ideas to fix the whole world - I had the whole thing "figured out", little need for sleep or food, etc etc....
I am glad to have experienced this at least once in my life, and would give anything to get back "there", but we know how that goes....
Reality has a tendency of biting your ass and grounding you before too long....

From what I have read, it sounds a lot like an "episode of mania"....
It passed, but it did shape a certain way of how I see things now....
I am grateful for that....

I keep getting kicked out it seems.

The madness of love

One comes to manifest this sort of love after seeing beauty here on earth and being reminded of true beauty as it was seen beyond heaven. When reminded, the wings begin to grow back, but as they are not yet able to rise, the afflicted gaze aloft and pay no attention to what goes on below, bringing on the charge of madness. This is the best form that possession by a god can take, for all those connected to it.

What goes up, must come down.....    :smirk:

Firmly believing (on the inside) of yourself as being "the one", is prolly~ not a good thing to hold on to for long periods of time....
As much joy as it brought me at that time, it, or I should say I, almost destroyed the "life" I had built up to that point....
Even knowing this with a reasoning mind, I would LOVE to do it all again just to have that feeling....!

But, having experienced it once, I can confidently say that there is nothing like absolute "freedom" from yourself....

I don't believe that life is something that you can just let wash over you, for better or worse.

This life is the only thing we have, outside of it is nothing, completely anoetic.  So we must vigorously seize every moment, live life to it's greatest extent, because we have a very limited time to be on this earth.  We must make our short stay meaningful and enjoyable; there is little time to act in life, there is much time to rest when dead.

But wouldn't that mean not doing anything. Accepting life as it is would mean to remain jobless and dependent your whole life.

I was saying that we should try and make this life as meaningful as possible, because this is the only one we get.

The ego is just another part of our personality structure IMO. It can either act in a healthy/skillful manner or an unhealthy/unskillful manner. This has much more IMO with how we are programmed than whether the ego is capable of unconditional love/acceptance.

I agree with much of the rest of your post.

Yes, I agree. Labeling myself a nihilist sometimes leads people to believe that I don't find value in anything. Quite the contrary, I just understand that no value is inherent. Therefore, it's best to tear down pre-existing values and create your own.

Why should we accept that everyone is doing their "best" to be happy or doing their best period?  Most people are just coasting at "best" because playing video games and endless useless chatter is not anyone doing their best.

Granted, there are a lot of distractions and problems in the world and in peoples lives as a result of conditions in general.  But, for the most part I don't think people even understand what would make them happy so to think they could possibly be doing their best at being happy isn't even remotely possible.

If people are coasting then that is their best at this time. Same for you and me. You could say we could do better but that's not true. If we could we would but our weakness prevents it no matter how much we know or think we could be different.

I don't think people even understand what would make them happy

You make the point here.  If they don't understand then they can't do differently. Same with will IMO. We can only do what we have the strength/courage for.

I still agree with many of my earlier posts. Most of them are just gabbing however.

I also had a 6 month bliss period in my life.  I was walking on air much of the time. It's the same for me as it was for you. Mine was triggered by a shamanic journey. (I took drugs:lol:)

So, injustice doesn't exist for you ? Nobody has the same rights ? It is as it is ? Human social inventions like 'rights' and 'law' don't count ?
I see where you come from, but I see love always as conditional. Valid for the term 'love' itself and/or for the 'subject' perceiving/giving it.
For me the term 'unconditional love' is a widespread false 'meme', which clouds the 'benefits' and preciousness of 'true love'.
Nothing to work with to make the world a better place. As far as I see.
