fool proof sporeprint tek
    #855300 -

I don't know if people have trouble making good prints, but I always figured, especially when starting out, it can be daunting.  So here's what my cat does.

1.make one hole in a 1/2 pint jar lid, near side.  put lid seal up, pf style
(could be bigger jar, I use quarts but my guess is most newbies have 1/2 pints per pf tek)
2.cover hole w/ heatproof tape and sterelize.
3.now take a matching jar w/ lid and fill 80% full w/ distilled water, steralize.
4.once all is cool, find a good cap, clean hands, knife etc. with alcohol, turn empty jar upside down and loosten lid.
5.cut cap and place it on lid, quickly replace jar on top of it and waite for it to drop the print.
6.once dropped, toss cap and replace jar.

now comes the fun part.

when you need to make some sporewater

7.Take sterelized jar w/ distilled water in it and loosten lid
8.loosten lid with sporeprint on it
9.remove water jar lid
10. quickly replace it w/ sporeprint lid

shake a bunch. wait a day for spores to rehydrate before innoculating anything with them.

neeto

Ummm, but the whole point of printing is storeing spores for later use... Not knocking your tek or anything. But what you just stated was another way to make spore water. And i would rather put it in a shot glass then a quart jar.

you don't have to put it in water till you need it.  You can store it in the jar as long as you need to.  Maybe a quart is a bit excessive, but my point is that you can use any jar.

You can store 'spore water' just as long as you can a print..........

if you're feeling froggy, you could use honeywater, or the liquid growth mycelium tek in place of distilled water.

Seems like a lot of hassle - but the idea is unique. I couldnt see you trading baby jar spore prints...

trading prints with this tek may be a bit on the bulky side, and pretty soon you'd have to run to the store to get new jars, but one upside that wasn't mentioned before is that you can get a very strong sporeprint. The whole print is exposed to the liquid which is something that may be difficult in traditional printing. Sure some of it is always going to stick to the lid, and maybe scraping a reg print gets as much off as this method. Microscope is down for the time being, so proof is hard to come by, but results have yet to fail.
