A world with no oil, what would you do?
    #8442744 -

I read this article and found it fascinating for a number of reasons.

http://green.yahoo.com/news/ap/20080524/ap_on_re_us/environmental_survivalists.html

I find it fascinating people can stir a panic amongst themselves. YES I due agree with their figures and personally I take ever step I can to avoid oil use (such as my ethanol hybrid moped if I need to get somewhere my bicycle won't take me) and I agree there will be a lot of issues when oil begin's to be more and more difficult to acquire but the human race is ingenuitive and will find new methods. I hardly see myself running off into the mountain's like the Y2K bug or something.

Hydrogen is the way forward. Clean and renewable.

We recently developed some great new methods for producing it.

Unfortunately those oil tycoons hold the patents so they are gonna rape us until it runs out because they won't make anywhere near as much $ off of the hydrogen.

Saying the world's going to run out of oil makes about as much sense as the world running out of water. In time, with the evaporation of it's gaseous state, sure. But in the meantime primordial methane condensation is always occuring, all under the world, then bubbles up as various hyrdrocarbons.

Now, that said, I'd rather everyone was using fusion power with water cracking stations making hydrogen as and when people needed it (less explosive chance) which could run rather boring electric motors.

cant be used as a lubricant, synthetics are available but the cost
is 5x that of fossil based petroleum lubricants, this is the one
thing people are failing to see in the grand scheme of 'oil
dependence', everyone talks about the fuel

jumped in and played along, I almost got my ass beat

Nor should we drill here...yet.

Use all their shit up, and then when it comes down do it...we will have plenty of jobs, and plenty of oil in which to nuke their asses.

true.... yea for now they will only let 200 drilling rigs in the area when they want over 600 rigs. This oil is a really big deal up here... ohhh ya and the oil is not black, its green i guess they say its better than black oil.
