actually, mcdonalds uses paritally hydrogenated oil, which is less suitable or unusable depending on climate. a greaser friend of mine who i fondly refer to as ponyboy touts asian restaurants as the best source of fuel for his car.

Drugs are bad.
Yes, such an engine exists. It's called a diesel engine. If "the man" has suppressed the diesel engine, he sure as fuck did a miserable job.
Hemp is a very good potential source of diesel fuel. But, because of the paranoia surrounding anything even remotely similar to drugs... research is forced to use other, much less efficient, sources.

There are plants that produce alot more oil per square foot of growing area than hemp. There are types of algae with very high oil contents that are being researched for their commercial viability to produce veg oil for fuel purposes.
As far as power to your engine, veg oil doesn't deliver as much as gasoline but it gets damn close. Also, your car gets more MPG and longevity using esterized veg oil. Its all on the net if you'd like to research.
I will be going diesel for sure. I'm going to get a diesel truck soon for the purposes of going green.

I'm always arguing with people here about how our gas is cheap. Not quite as good as in Iraq or Venezuela, but still quite good.
Here's another. It's older, and not updated often though. Link.

weren't they arguing that the recent spike in gas prices was du\e to some sort of conversion in the U.S.? Why are other countries suffering from the same sudden leap in prices? they aren't going through this "conversion" That link looks like more evidence pointing towards fossil fuel depletion.

Those central American prices are amazing though. If someone had some ambition and a vision they could make a lot of money either shipping, or Setting up some kind of factory down there. Not that I'm for the continued consumption of fossil fuels

> If someone had some ambition and a vision
.. and the balls! They'd have to operate illegally to maintain any sort of discount comparable to the local gas prices, after export. Domestic and international trade laws and all, would prevent it from being an easy or even feasible task. On that note, many American corporations already do operate oil pumps in other countries.

You know, the funny thing is... you'd think that after america said "fuck you!" to excessive taxation, people would learn a lesson from history.
