i help everyone i meet(or try to) bcuz God made me with a compassionate heart. i would never do it to earn favour.

thats one of the things Jesus was soooo pissed at the pharasees about, they publicized everything good they did so everyone would see. and thats what todays churches remind me of. I THANK YOU ALL AND GOD for this thread. its re kindled my love and my faith in Jesus.

but as you said about all the "Christians" that say one thing and do another. im my opinion, thats satans tool for leading more and more ppl to hell. hes preys on weaknesses and right now in this waiting for the rapture period, ppl are jumping on every band waggon they see. Jesus please hurry back for us...dont forget your promise Lord. I LOVE YOU!!!

Go see who runs your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter. 9/10 times its a church or church affiliated group.

I don't have a problem with any religion per se. I think some people just need something to believe in. If you want to believe in a book (the bible) that has little basis in fact, it's your perogative.

What I do really have a problem with are churches. They are nothing but self-serving establishments that prey on these same people. I was blessed to have to attend a born again christian church last week to watch my wife's friend's baby get baptized or christened or whatever the hell they call it there. :smirk: I had to sit through this televangelist type dude going on and on about how your future in heaven is determined by how you follow gods plan and repeatedly insinuated that part of that plan was to donate to the church. He went on in his $500 suit about how jesus sacrificed everything he had to "save us" and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the hypocrisy of it all. I had to take a shower when I got home.

but i seriously wish the ppl i go to church with gave a fuck. i ask complete stangers that look down if theyre ok. if they need to talk, if they need help.

when i go to church and wear my pain on my sleve, not ONE "Christian" stops to ask me if im ok. needless to say i dont go there anymore.

i dont think i can go wrong by just studyin my Bible. any of you atheists read the Bible. its beautiful. it preaches all the things that you say that youre atheist for....

Jesus was a boat rocker, he didnt like all these ppl in there comfort zones(like the "Christians" who do nothing like weve been talking about)and He fought for GOD. how can you go wrong with that

I think people take the bible and interpret it however it seems fit for them. I've never heard so many people that believed in the christian god have so many different views on their religion.

Its like a religious tree with 1 million branches by now.

Like I said in the post I linked to above, I've taken an Early Christian History course and the writings of the early church are just as philosophical or mystical as anything the new-age hippies are infatuated with here.

People are absolutely unable to separate their views on various facets of the modern church from the religion that underlies it, which is really a shame. Discounting 2,000 years of accumulated wisdom because you don't like what someone else is doing with is criminally stupid.

For the most part, I think Christians are delusional. Maybe for some it is needed to have faith to complete some empty need to believe whatever.
