i help everyone i meet(or try to) bcuz God made me with a compassionate heart. i would never do it to earn favour.

thats one of the things Jesus was soooo pissed at the pharasees about, they publicized everything good they did so everyone would see. and thats what todays churches remind me of. I THANK YOU ALL AND GOD for this thread. its re kindled my love and my faith in Jesus.

but as you said about all the "Christians" that say one thing and do another. im my opinion, thats satans tool for leading more and more ppl to hell. hes preys on weaknesses and right now in this waiting for the rapture period, ppl are jumping on every band waggon they see. Jesus please hurry back for us...dont forget your promise Lord. I LOVE YOU!!!

That's about as ridiculous a statement as any of the other crazy shit you say.

Go see who runs your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter. 9/10 times its a church or church affiliated group.

Churches provide a ton of services to the community, especially the poor and destitute.

I'm not arguing that, genius.

He said NOT ONE Christian is helping the poor.

Do you agree with that?

Is that a truthful statement?

I don't have a problem with any religion per se. I think some people just need something to believe in. If you want to believe in a book (the bible) that has little basis in fact, it's your perogative.

What I do really have a problem with are churches. They are nothing but self-serving establishments that prey on these same people. I was blessed to have to attend a born again christian church last week to watch my wife's friend's baby get baptized or christened or whatever the hell they call it there. :smirk: I had to sit through this televangelist type dude going on and on about how your future in heaven is determined by how you follow gods plan and repeatedly insinuated that part of that plan was to donate to the church. He went on in his $500 suit about how jesus sacrificed everything he had to "save us" and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the hypocrisy of it all. I had to take a shower when I got home.

i proved its not true.

but i seriously wish the ppl i go to church with gave a fuck. i ask complete stangers that look down if theyre ok. if they need to talk, if they need help.

when i go to church and wear my pain on my sleve, not ONE "Christian" stops to ask me if im ok. needless to say i dont go there anymore.

i dont think i can go wrong by just studyin my Bible. any of you atheists read the Bible. its beautiful. it preaches all the things that you say that youre atheist for....

Jesus was a boat rocker, he didnt like all these ppl in there comfort zones(like the "Christians" who do nothing like weve been talking about)and He fought for GOD. how can you go wrong with that

Hey you christians get out of our atheist thread.
We don't come to your church and ask your preacher questions he doesn't have logical answers to!

"I fucking despise Christianity" is not an invitation to come defend your faith.

I believe the original poster would rather hear people like him, that encourage his logical thought.
Not be told we going to hell for contridicting YOUR beliefs.

You don't know anything about Jesus or what he died for, if anything. No one does. You are putting it all together based on how other people put it all together.

There is as much proof that Jesus is a god, or the son of god, or whatever, as there is for the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Which by the way tastes a million times better and comes with the option of extra garlic bread.

If Jesus did come back, I would hope he would be pissed.

I see so many Christians bashing gays, and talking shit, and not a SINGLE ONE helping the poor. NOT ONE.

I am an atheist, I don't need god to do what's right. I do what's right simply because it is right. No reward is required.

And if you think about it, it's rather selfish to do what's right because you will earn favour with god.

I help the poor because they are poor, and I am compassionate. And value the words of the 'gentle philosopher' Spinoza

That of who we must not speak of .... the great Spaghetti monster god!

Funny you would mention that.

I happen to have an entire folder dedicated to our noodley lord. I have a little YouTube comedy thing I have been working on. It`s funny without a single vid up yet, and really good channel description, people are freaking out.....
Wow that`s so funny etc, I can`t wait to see him etc..
See for yourself.

I am having lots of fun making the vids, really just joking around while talking philosophy.
The first vid should be up within a week.

I think people take the bible and interpret it however it seems fit for them. I've never heard so many people that believed in the christian god have so many different views on their religion.

Its like a religious tree with 1 million branches by now.

Like I said in the post I linked to above, I've taken an Early Christian History course and the writings of the early church are just as philosophical or mystical as anything the new-age hippies are infatuated with here.

People are absolutely unable to separate their views on various facets of the modern church from the religion that underlies it, which is really a shame. Discounting 2,000 years of accumulated wisdom because you don't like what someone else is doing with is criminally stupid.

youre missin what im saying.

Im sticking up for my beliefs. if i were a preacher, i would invite you to come ask the questions you have. God wants you to be curious.

ill NEVER EVER tell someone theyre going to hell....EVER. who am i to judge anyone. none of us will know if what we believe it the truth until we either die or until our savior comes.

im just saying i gladly except Jesus as my God, He was sinnless.

im sorry that Christians make Jesus so far away from everyone these days. Im done in this thread as requested. either way, i love all you. why? cuz God does, and who better to model yourself after...

No, no, no.

WRONG.

I said I have not seen one. And I don't ever.
Even my so called Christian friends are too busy with their lives, or facebook, or some bullshit.

But they will point out that you shouldn't question their beleifs.

Excellent, how philosophical!!

So you can put that in your pipe and smoke it.
As for saying stupid/ridiculous things I seem to rememeber you tossing around the word nigger earlier in a way that made you come across as being quite stupid.

I joke around and say silly things sometimes, but I think it would be hard for you to find tons of people here that truly think I am stupid.

I wonder if they have done studies yet on why some people are more susceptible to bowing to religions.

It would be an interesting read...

There has to be some kind of psychology to it that explains why they cling to something that only supported by a book.  I just don't understand it.:foreheadslap:

I don't think he meant NO Christians help poor people...

For the most part, I think Christians are delusional. Maybe for some it is needed to have faith to complete some empty need to believe whatever.

I think its just like...
You have niggas and you have blacks
You have white trash and you have whites
Chinks, asians...
wetbacks, mexicans...

I think some may help people, but for the most part their religion is a hopeless selfish act of saving themselves from damnation.
