So maybe we should all agree to believe what we want on our own time and keep the BB out of it, to preserve everyones right to do so.

Well while I despise the actions of many of it's members, and I think it mentally and emotionally neuters many people... I don't think I would say I despise it.

I would say it makes weak, foolish people, often weaker and more foolish. And I can't stand the way so many Christians talk shit about being so holy, and good etc....
When often they are truly the most contemptible people.

Oh really you drove an SUV to church, but the drug use that takes place in my own home is a problem, I guess you have morality all figured out then don't you.

How many Christian do you know that actually work at soup kitchens, or help the poor?
How many have you even seen buying a slice of pizza for the poor. I'm an agnostic-atheist, with strong Buddhist leanings.....
But most of all, I'm a philosopher, an existentialist, on his own personal journey.

And I help people out constantly. Way to much hype, and talk, not nearly enough action, real grassroots action...... that's my biggest problem with Christianity.

Stop talking about Jesus and SHOW me WHY I should respect you with your fucking actions. I should really bite my tongue less and say this more. Even scream it sometimes....
However we will all be dead one day, I wish people would focus a little more on making things better now, while we are alive. It's really pretty selfish, if even unconsciously to be worried about your so called eternal life somewhere else all the time.

And that right there might be the biggest problem of all when it comes to religion.

I think all religions revolve around human's fear of the unknown, i.e. Death. Then later on (and still) it was used to control the masses with fear of damnation. If I created a religion that revolved around beautiful women sucking my cock 24 hours a day or they would go to hell, then....well...I'd probably get chafing after a while, but until then it would be a blast. :laugh:

Excellent point. Personally I am writing a large article(I don't know it may become a book) about that topic as of late.


Basically the premise is this....
Death scares people, and affects not only religious choices, and beliefs, but countless choices, thoughts, and fears, that I feel people often don't consider, at least consciously.

I almost died last year. You know, moments from actual death, a few breaths away from dead...

I feel I have somewhat of a special perspective on this topic, and I find it deeply fascinating. And while I often feel I have conquered my own fear of death, it creeps up when I least suspect it.

Or I remember almost dying. Not pleasant. At all.

I suppose if i believed in an after life that would make things easier, but like Carl Sagan, I believe....

It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Anyway, I have to get my pot on. So to speak....
But yes, death, I believe is involved in countless human decisions, fears, and thoughts, even when people don't realize it.

The article(or book?) I am writing is called...
The elephant in your head.
Kinda clever considering the topic, and the premise I am trying to get across I think.
