I despise all religions. Why do people hate on christianity but not on other religions? They're all a waste of space as far as I'm concerned.

I hate Islam as well. Judaism isn't as fun to hate. Buddhism and other Eastern religions are more palatable.

I don't despise religion. I do dislike the way it directly affects my life, even though I do not participate.

The way I see it is that people should have the freedom to believe what they want, question what the want, do what they want etc, providing it doesn't directly interfere with what other people want to do.

I know religion is the major cause of all conflict, but on the other end of the spectrum it is also the major cause of all unity amongst people.

When people stop judging people by the slight differences and start making a proactive effort to unite all conflict will end... Nearly all religious conflict is over a slight disagreement between their respective version of their individual holy texts.

When people stop blindly being indoctrinated and seek the deeper meaning which is prevailant and concurrent throughout all of these holy texts there will not be any religious conflict... and there will be no reason to despise religion.

Its a pretty narrow minded viewpoint to jump to the absolute of anything unless you consider absolutely everything in between :shrug:

It isn't tho. The vast majority of all wars are secular and I'd guess that without religion you'd see a whole lot more of them.

seafood is awesome, religion is significantly less awesome. i guess i just dont like the way it throws up yet another barrier of division (and a big one at that) between peoples.
what troubles me even more is that even if you buy into a theistic argument (there are some good ones imo - mostly centred around the kalamic cosmological argument) why would you subscribe to a particular doctrine. be spiritual if you want but leave the organised religion in the bin where it belongs.

I wonder if it's the religion that makes people stupid, or that stupid people just gravitate to religion. Would they still be closet fascists without the dogma of some sky god to encourage their self-righteous denial of reality and claims to hold all relevant truth? Is religion the symptom or the disease?
