My reply from Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand
    #8333348 -

I constantly write the lawmakers in advocacy of Marijuana. This is the most recent reply from congresswoman Kirstin Gillibrand........

April 25, 2008

Dear Mr. Nelson,

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding the issue of marijuana. I appreciate your advocacy, but I oppose the legalization of marijuana.

The use of marijuana, based on recent medical studies, can have serious social and medical repercussions. The National Institute of Health not only recognizes that marijuana significantly increases the risk of heart attack, but also associates its use with depression, anxiety, personality disturbances and learning difficulties. Furthermore, there is a range of violence and crime associated with the use and sale of marijuana. As such, I do not support the legalization of marijuana for recreational use.

With regard to the medical prescription of medical marijuana, I would defer to the medical profession should it be proven to be vital to the treatment of certain disease-related pain.

I would like to thank you again for contacting me and I hope you keep in touch with my office regarding future legislation and concerns that you may have.

Sincerely,

Kirsten Gillibrand
Member of Congress

That bitch needs to do some fucking reading.

Some stuff from actual scientists, not just opinionated politicians.

And who asked for legalization? All we really want is decriminalization.

Legalizing it would suck but getting busted also sucks so decriminalization all-the-way.

Well thats crazy that she sends you a letter talking all that shit.

Send a rebuttal! You can take issue with just about everything she said.

If you don't get an email back addressing each of your points you can call on the phone and make each point again until they get it.

This may sound kind of extreme, but another option is to actually meet with her in person. You could call her office and ask her secretary for a 15 minute appointment to discuss marijuana.

Is this her response to you asking her to pass HR 5843?

If all else fails, just slap the bitch in the face. I think that may be the appropriate course of action in cases like these.

Yes, I did send a reply asking for her proof and resources. So, we'll see what she comes up with then.

Surely marijuana helps to lower the chances of heart attack since it lowers blood pressure? What a load of bull.

This is your chance to actually sway her opinion. She actually gave the time to
write something back so they obviously know you exist and just want you to leave them alone.

Disprove it all and make a point! Don't question her intelligence, just prove yours.

I keep writing to my congress, senators ect... often. I wrote her back stating the scientific proofs behind marijuana. She stated that there is violence related to marijuana use and sale? She obviously has not spoke with any police officers about pot heads. Most officers I know would rather run into a pot head than any other. They are calm (if not paranoid for gettin pulled over), tend to drive much slower if drive at all. I know that I smoke more for medicinal purpose than rec. just for that reason..... It mellows me out, keeps me on level playing grounds.

Just another one of the brainwashed monkeys who repeat the wrong information they are forced fed to believe from embryos and repeat like parrots all their life. Just another scam to keep people from being happy and enjoying a simple plant that helps with more sickness' diseases and conditions than any other natural plant in the world. Dumb bitch.

While driving my overpowered car around tight corners like a maniac all my friends yell out. Hey man slow down, we might Wreck. I reply, Shut up, I drive like Dale Earnhardt. They all look around at each other and laugh. Then one asks me. Hey wait, isnt he dead? Well yeah he is I said. Then I drive like Junior I mumble, while I promptly slow down.

I actually mean another thing other than what you are thinking I am saying. Get it? Good because that's what I meant".

Also if marijuana was legal sale would be an above-board regulated buisness. Not the domain of black marketeers and gang members.

the crimes being possession, consumption and distribution, the
violence being perpetrated by the police departments in trying
to stop this 'deadly evil' from being pushed on our school children

Yes I think so too. A shovel might be appropriate as well.

Send her some medical evidence to the contrary. MAPS is full of it.

Also, point out that the violence associated with it is because it's illegal.
