Spores and Plugs???
    #461197 -

Helllo out there????

I have been looking into growing "real" mushrooms for little bit now, but i havent come across much in the way of information or sources for spores. Ive seen a lot of sites that sell "plugs" but nothing about spores. Can any of these mushies be grown in the same way as our blue friends on the other fourms? That is, the same process of spore innoculation, jars, etc... And if so, where do i go to get spores for these types????
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

They dont usually sell spore prints for them.. Instead, they use cultures n stuff. I suggest ordering a kit then using that as spawn.. kinda expensive, but the only reason the blue ones are sent as spore prints is cuz otherwise its illegal

Try an oyster first.. Theyre very hardy. You can use mostly anything for them, including brown rice.. Theyre quick to colonize & fruit, etc.. theyre nicee =) i like elm oysters a bunch more tho. Gawd i loved my ol' elm oyster kit.. Too bad i didnt know how to keep it going back then

brf and verm is just a method devised for growing magic mushrooms in, it's the not the way to grow edibles.

Do some research, there is lots of information out there and places where you can order cultures, etc. I would suggest dealing with a reputable company like Fungi Percti. They have been in the business for years and can provide you with information on how to grow edible mushrooms properly.
It's not normally done in little jars.

Try Agaricus Blazei,
wood substrate, but temp wise simmilar
(spawn 21-27 C, 70-80 F)
(primordia 21-24 C, 70-75 F)
(fruiting 24-27 C, 75-80 F)

i recomend the pink oysters. they fruit in a good range of temps so they are ideal for indoor cultuivation without much effort to regulate temps.
