Looks fun! However, it seems that this technique may need some sterility issues.

I am trying something similar but I am not being sterile and I used white TP. Plus I used cold water right out of the tap (city water). I got it soaking wet and then pushed some of the paper down to form a bottom in the center hole (after removing the core. Then I filled the hole with rye grain spawn of Pleurotus pulmonarius and covered the top of the spawn with a small square of plastic (to be removed later). All this was done in the sink. It has been placed in a fruiting chamber with a fog like environment, bypassing the normal incubatior stage. The chamber was set up for growing some Reishi so the oyster has to live in the same place.
So far so good. It is leaping off from the grain to the paper as you read this.

i use a variation of these teks.

you need a roll of TP [cheap kind without lotion, scents, other girly stuff] and some pre-soaked WBS or other grainspawn, a pc, an exacto knife, pint jars wich are more or less even in diameter from the top to the bottom and some water

1.) using exacto knife, cut a line down the length of the cardboard roll from the inside. place two fingers inside roll to hold it imobile and grasp the outside, then twist with the direction of the roll, tightening it. continus this untill the inner diameter of the roll is about 1".

2.) place rolls into jars. this requires a little bunching, but is far easier than cramming an intact roll in. you may want/need to trim off some TP so the top of it is flush with the top of the jar.

3.) load pre-soaked grain spawn into the inside of the cardboard tube. this provides an initial boost of nutrients, as oyster spores will not germinate easily on cardboard/paper. it also gives a good store of nutrients to be used for fruit body production.

4.) add water to each jar verry slowly, adding only enough for it to blot out into all of the paper, so that it is all wet [you don't want to oversoak the grain untill it is fully colonized].

5.) place lids on jars and pressure cook as you would a jar containing only grain spawn. allow to cool completely before inoculating.

6.) inoculate with spore solution or mecelial inoculum, remembering that there is sterilized grain in the jar wich will easily contam if not treated accordingly.

7.) allow to colonize fully.

8.) fruit from the jar in a fructification environment suitable fot the species being grown, or outdoors if conditins allow.

9.) harvest, then rehydrate according to your prefered method. i recomend cold dunking. just be sure the jar remains on it's side.

10.) if jar recovers after dunking then
        goto 8
    else end

.

this could easily be adapted to a bag to increase available cropping area and shorten production times, but with so little grain contamination is easily enough avioded.

Here are 2 rolls of TP I did as I mentioned above, they were incubated inside of the fruiting chamber which was conditioned for reishi. 90% - 100% humidity with regular air exchanges. You can see neither are colonized completely and there are many aborts. It is interesting just the same.
