how much longer before the man steps in, and takes away the EDIT---> (easy) access of our beloved dmt containing plant material? i hate to say it, but i see this in our near future. makes me sad to think about it...

I can see the mimosa for sale everywhere going away but there are too many dmt containing plants growing naturally to eradicate.

understood. edited my original post for clarity...

i just dont want to see the days of easy, free flowing dmt to come to an end. take away the online vendors, which im sure will happen eventually, and it will get that much more difficult and expensive to acquire. but you are right, there will always be dmt. it will just suck ass when they decide to make it hard on us. i dunno, just been thinking about it lately. makes me want to cry.

Probably the man won't move until there are a few serious incidents: Like a number of people going crazy, or needing trips to ER. That isn't too likely from DMT, but certainly it could happen. (Certainly no one is going to die from it. I believe there is one report of an allergic reaction on Erowid, but that is it. Apparently the Brazillian government commissioned a study and found the biggest risk to be falling down when trying to walk around.)

OTOH, reading some of the experience reports from Erowid, we see that many stoners do some outrageously crazy stuff and are just begging for trouble. I can see someone mixing DMT with "bad" stuff, and getting adverse reactions and then having DMT blamed for it, and then a crack down. (If taking it with MAOIs becomes popular, then there are potential problems due to that: the biggest of which being people not adhering to dietary restrictions.)

In general, though, I don't think psychedelics really have the potential to become mass market, so I'm not worried. Psychedelic trips require lots of mental effort, and lots of time. Also if there are unpleasant things in your mind they tend to come to the surface and are hard to control. I think the average druggie these days has too many bad things in their mind to enjoy psychedelics. They might try it once, get the shit scared out of them, and go back to a pain killer, or something else which shuts their mind off rather than opening it up to everything inside.

I put the over/under before there is any kind of a move at 5 years.

I have not had the pleasure of getting to try DMT and have a strong urge to one day when the money is right. I have thought the same thing before, and now believe my time is limited in the ease of access I could get some DMT containing plants. Yes I could always work to grow and process my own, and one day I hope to if I enjoy it, but for now I would like to just try it without dodging the government.
