What's DMT like?

I've read on erowid, trip reports etc etc, but i'd like to hear your thoughts. All I know is that it's an orange crystal you smoke, and that the chemical DMT is what's produced in your body, supposedly, and birth and death. Other than that, hows the trip, and hows it compare with other hallucinogens?

to say that it was the most incredible experience i have ever had would be a huge understatement...

its really a lot stronger than all other psychedelics

at first i saw a million colored detailed geometric patterns swirling off everything and trailing around
and this loud ringing humming sound that kept increasing as my body vibrated away to it

i cant really explain it though....its like dying and rising through all these worlds at the speed of light

Mckenna desribes it as going to an underground city were machine elves dance around you and sing songs about being "absolutely and completely dead".

Is that a good enough description for you?

First off, if it's near pure DMT, it won't be orange, it'll be an offish white color. You smoke it out of a glass pipe (tweak pipe), and try and get a whole dose smoked in as few hits as possible, usually 3, sometimes 2. You take the first hit and begin feeling overwhelming energy traveling through your body, and hardcore visuals, then the second hit and it starts taking over your breathing, you start hearing that ringing/vibrating, and you get overwhelmed with the most spectacular visuals, and your body starts vibrating with the noise (sometimes the vibration gets intense enough to make you think something is wrong). If you manage to take a 3rd hit, you'll want to close your eyes. Many people see this 'chaos netting' which for me looks like a bunch of 3d tunnels, made out of lines (like grid tunnels or somethin), and they morph rapidly.

After closing your eyes and seeing this almost set visual, you can project through it, usually only if you've smoked enough dmt (if not, the tunnels usually remain for me). It took many doses for me to actually breakthrough, or become comfortable enough seeing these tunnels to project through them. When you do project through the image, *BAM* you're 10,000 times more overwhelmed than before, with intense energy, visions, and just utter beauty. Every time is different, and hard to put into words. Some dance with Goddess's of self expression, some recieve healing (the experience is healing for anybody), some just get loss and don't even focus on what's going on.

It's so INTENSE and PROFOUND, and really can't be described in words.

Holy shit, that sounds awesome.

1. How rare is it? Like if you know someone who can find lsd and shrooms, what are the chances that they have DMT too?

2. Is it quite possible to have a bad trip like on lsd? It seems like it would be a lot less of a chance for bad trips from what you described, because it seems more spiritual.

It is pretty damn hard to find DMT, and you pretty much have to have a friend who extracts it, or extract it yourself. Chances are, if you know someone who can get mushrooms or lsd (moreso lsd), they may have tried it. It is rising in popularity because people are finding out how easy it is to extract, and obtain the analogues.

I'd say it's harder to have a bad trip on DMT than mushrooms or lsd. It is really intense though and sometimes it frightens me because one is almost being forced to feel all this energy (but once you realize it's really potent, good energy, you just let go and stop holding onto your ego). If you breakthrough, usually you'll have ego-loss for 5 or so minutes, and then lots more awesome residual effects.

After i smoke DMT, i'm SO energized and healed, and it feels so great to go outside and jump around, and hug some trees (kiddin about the tree part, hehe).

its damn rare. i know a lot of drugs people, i'm best friends with an acid dealer, and i've been looking for DMT for two years without success. i'm gonna try and extract it myself sometime soon.

The grass contains a lot of 5-meo and Bufotine. You'd want a source that is mostly DMT.

ayahuasca is not a plant, it is the oral way to take dmt, mixing a dmt containing plant with maoi's so that the dmt will be orally active

smoking a dosage of DMT will make you trip for 10-30minutes... its relatively short, but very intense. Snorting DMT will make it last longer but you need to snort more to get the effect. If you smoked it on a sat. night you "should" feel fine by sunday.

Actually, if you insufflate DMT, you will get no effects, as you need MAO Inhibitors to make it active, if not smoked. If you smoke it on saturday night, you'll be good on saturday night, heh.

Eh, it's not something you all should be looking for anyways, you won't find it (not to say you won't extract it in the future, or it won't find you).

False, ayahuasca is a vine which contains beta-carbolines.  It is brewed into a beverage of the same name by many south american tribes.  Sometimes it is brewed by itself, sometimes with admixture plants.  Westerners focus only on DMT-containing admixture plants (chagraponga, chaliponga, etc), but traditionally many plants are used.  These include datura, tobacco, coca, Ilex spp (yerba mate relatives), and many others.

dmt is a beautiful chemical that is very very intense have you tripped befor? if not try somthing else first or you will end up fucking yourself this might sound darastic to the psychedelicly un-experienced but i gave a warning and read a ton more and ask people with experience befor you try it do go in to deep without knowing the tide and size of the waves and the current. you gotta put in a ton of research

Some species of phalaris grass contain toxic alkaloids that will be extracted along with the DMT.  Not a risk worth taking, in my opinion.

And like Moshr00mMan said, it's not really something you should try if you've never tripped before.  Not that other substances will exactly prepare you for the experience (nothing can), but they will prepare you for letting go and yielding to the experience. The vast majority of negative DMT experiences seem to be the result of the subject trying to fight off the experience and hold onto reality.

Very well said. I put in months and months of research before i decided to jump in. It started effecting my dreams i was researching and thinking about it so much, real weird, vivid, psychedelic dreams. And even after all that, i still wasn't ready. You will NEVER be ready. The point of researching isn't to know what the trip is going to be like or what to expect; the point is to know that you can never be ready for what will happen, and you will never be able to describe it once it does.

i have my kilo of mhrb and want to use the 'lazy man's tek'. with a single base extraction

does anyone know if i can substitute sodium carbonate (soda ash) for sodium hyroxide (lye) if i'm using the single base extraction.
what does the pH need to be in my solution to get the best extraction.

Not for straight to base, you really need an excess of lye with lazyman/Noman style teks.  By all accounts, pH 13+ is required for straight to base extractions; it's not entirely an issue of pH though, best results are reported when using an amount of lye  in excess of the amount required to reach pH 13.  It's believed that this is required to "pulp" the bark and expose the DMT so it can be extracted into the nonpolar solvent.  It's possible that it's just an issue of ionic strength (in which case salt could be added instead of lye after reaching pH 13), but this seems less likely.

If you did an acid/base extraction, you could probably get away with using carbonate soda, but you would probably run into emulsion difficulties. In a pure aqueous solution of DMT, the optimal extraction pH is 9-10.  The problem is that aqueous mimosa extracts turn a thick sludgy gray at this pH, forming terrible emulsions that no amount of salt will prevent.  Somewhere around pH 12 or 12.5, the mimosa extract changes from the sludgy gray to a slippery brown-black color, from which extraction is much simpler (excess salt can be added at this stage to pre-emptively fight off emulsions)

thanks alot for the info. i was just asking bc i work at a pool and soda ash is readily available. does it make any difference if the mimosa is powdered?

thats funny that you would say that. i ordered a half gram, and it didnt get here until i stopped thinking/wondering about it. one day it came up in conversation, and lo and behold, i called my friend and it had arrived. still havent smoked it more than a tiny taste but the closed eye visuals were insane.

lol, i have been here just for a few hours, and over 80% of the questions asked could probably be answered with a simple search.

you need to defat the grass, go with MHRB, and yes it is better ground.

if using str8 2 base tek, ph to at LEAST 13. 13.5 is better, but usually do it closer to 14. just try to get some NAOH, it can be found fairly easily. the best thng about noman tek besides saving time, is the final yeild is usually a little greater than a/b tek like marsofolds.
