Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.

I can't be blamed for this and One more Robot I feel more human because of what you said but my first concert was Loverboy when I was about 10 and my first album purchase was either The Police-Synchronicity or The Beastie Boys-Licensed to Ill
Hard to remember at this point

my folks (naive fools) dropped me and two friends off for the day. Pearl Jam, SoundGarden, Ice Cube, Ministry, Red Hot Chili Peppers, some more i couldn't remember. the security got trampled when Pearl Jam opened and it was just chaos after that.
bought "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" and "Copkiller" in the parking lot after the show. my first 2 CD's.

Are you sure it wasn't Ice T and not Ice Cube?

first concert: Butthole Surfers / Toadies / Reverend Horton Heat.  won the tickets from a radio station.  shortly thereafter, lollapalooza 1997 where i would first begin my love affair with Tool.  Those tickets were also from a radio station giveaway.

i have exceptional luck concerning these things.

first album, cereal killer by green jellÿ.  it was actually one of a five cd purchace, but that's why i went in the first place.

thats funny.... i think the first non-pop music I listened to as a wee lad was a very obscure EP by the butthole surfers called "Hairway to Steaven"

That wasn't an EP, foo! It's a LP and a damned good one, too!:crankey:

I love the Butthole Surfers! I saw STP open up for them back in 1993. It was for the Independent Worm Saloon album. Good stuff. I like Hairway To Stephen the best of all of their stuff, but Locust Abortion Technician was incredible! They are a completely different band to listen to on lsd as opposed to sober. Night and day.

no, Cube played the show, i'm positive of that. i bought Ice T's "Copkiller" from the back of some dude's van after the show though. it was hard to get at the time (especially for a 14 yr old) I think I had Cube's "Predator" album on tape at the time.

Predator was probably his best album. I thought Lethal Injection was pretty great as well. It had Ghetto Bird and Bop Gun with George Clinton on it.

Cop Killer was just a song that Body Count did. Ice T was in that group. That song helped to get that album recalled and banned. I thought the band was meh, but it sure stirred some controversy!
