I went to a Reel Big Fish concert last night
    #7301141 -

I started listening to this band probably about 4-5 years ago then totally forgot about them until recently. After hearing one of their songs on the radio, I downloaded their torrent and was completely blown away! I saw them at warped tour '02 and they were AMAZING.

So about a month ago, we check for tickets and find that they are playing in a small theatre downtown Chicago. Traffic was a bitch to get there but we arrived to a band called Streetlight Manifesto. They kicked major ass and were rocking it out with their excellent horns.

The next band was Less than Jake. They were decent live but kind of annoying

And then Reel Big Fish came out, they played such an amazing setlist. The whole band is incredible especially the horns. They are a band that is definitely better live since they sound exactly like the CD.

I dont know if anybody likes Streetlight Manifesto here but I never heard of them till i got to the venue, but after the concert we went to this little mexican restaurant and they were eating right next to us

Does anyone here at Shroomery enjoy ska or like one of these bands?

That's the Bosstones...

God, I hated that song a fair bit. The fact that they were from my area didn't help matters much...

I used to be into Reel Big Fish a bit. I had two of their older albums, and would probably go to a show.

However, I recently heard one of their newer songs (something about a Monkeyman :frown: ) and I was supremely disappointed. Seemed like their was no substance whatsoever... like pop ska or something.

i caught them on that tour about a month ago at the Wiltern in LA. I mainly went for Streetlight (tom is one of the best modern songwriters), but reel big fish was fucking amazing.  :headbang:

i can't say the same about less than jake... i wanted to throw a harpoon into the guy's neck...  :flipthebird:

I saw LTJ 3 or 4 years ago and thought it was a pretty good show, but I enjoy listening to RBF much more.

We will also report to the NAACP and to Al Sharpton's entourage, how the Shroomery administrators allows their mods and members to be balatantly allowed the use of the 'N' word.

Not sure how you missed all my posts about RBF but I am a huge fan. I have been a fan since about 97 maybe 98. Anyway, I went to their San Diego show a week or so ago and it was awesome. Streetlight Manifesto has a few of the same guys from Catch22 an older ska band that I am not too sure is still together. Despite all the harsh criticism, I love Less Than Jake. Maybe they had an off night or something when you saw them. They always rock live when I see them. Especially in the beer chugging contest I got to be part of during their set.

The "monkeyman" song is actually a cover song. Not an original RBF song. Check out their new CD "Monkeys For Nothing, and The Chimps for Free."

Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish are pretty much the only two ska bands I can even tolerate. I used to absolutely love that shit when I was younger. It was the typical progression around here, shitty local ska -> bigger ska -> shitty local punk/hardcore -> bigger hardcore. Some people stayed at each stage, thank god I moved on completely.

hell yeah dude, the new monkey CD is incredible!

other good RBF albums are Favorite Noise, Cheer Up, and Why do they Rock so Hard

I like LTJ a little bit, some songs are very catchy. And they werent bad live, they just arent as comparable to RBF

and the singer of RBF is named Aaron

You should also check out a very awesome local ska band in my area called Suburban Legends. They are probably the best ska band under Reel Big Fish.
