What was your first concert and what was your first album to buy?
    #8085453 -

A few DJ's from a local radio show was talking about this and it was pretty interesting hearing them talk about it.  I'm sure people here have much better stories then they did.

My first concert was ozzfest 97.  I was 14 and my bestfriend's parents drove us 3 hours to the Coca Cola Starplex (now it's the yellow pages concert hall or something).  They couldn't find the place with a map. lol They kept saying turn left turn left and I could see the place and it was supposed to be a right.  Finaly I asked them if their map was upside down and sure enough,

We got to see Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Pantera, Type O Negative, Fear Factory, Machine Head, and Powerman 5000.  I was blown away by seeing and smelling the pot smoked openly on the lawn.  There were booths selling hemp clothes and pipes.  My friend waited in line for 30 minutes to get a $3 coke and dropped it right as he was opening it.  I saw my first painted titty and it was good.

The first album I bought was either Nirvana - Nevermind or Metallica - Master of Puppets.  I can't remember which was first, but it was one of them damnit.  Around that time, I probably would have ridden my bike to wal-mart or something, but I was from a small small town.  You had to have a car to get to a music store.  The story of my first album isn't very interesting.

The first album i bought i can't remember, i do remember getting some jethro tull, candy dulcimer, juilian lennon, and other classic rock cassettes as gifts.

Don't remember FIRST album, but first album on cd was either Live-Throwing Copper, Gravity Kills, or the Hackers soundtrack

First concert was 97... Faithless, Jun Reactor, and Moby @ 930 club in Washington DC. I used to like Moby until then (although I still dig some of his tracks). He just went apeshit. At the end he was calling out to the audience to do covers. Being from DC, ever was yelling FUGAZI!!!!!! He did "Sweet Home Alabama" instead.

WTF

Faithless was AWESOME. Juno Reactor SUCKED.

Moby does have some good music, but I'm careful about who I say that around.  :hehehe:  Concerts are a whole other world.  The people are as much a part of the show as the bands are.  Fun stuff.  :yesnod:

First concert was Blues Traveler and Bare Naked Ladies right when they came out, went with my parents when i was a youngster. Then I when i got to high school i realized that going to concerts/shows is always a lot of fun and a unique experience for each one so my first concert on my own after that was David Bowie at MSG. soo good, 8th row. Been many years and different shows since than, plenty of stories and good times.

First album was probably Nirvana -Nevermind or Sublime.,, but i totally forget.

First album I bought was Chumbawumba's album

My dad took me to various blues concerts and fests in Syracuse since before I can remember, but the first concert I ever went to that I clearly remember and went more on my own accord than my dad taking me was Ray Charles at the Syracuse Jazz Fest in 2000. Our jazz fests are free, so the amount of people in downtown Syracuse that day was overwhelming. Thousands upon thousands packed in to see him, it was incredible. I was lucky enough to have VIP passes to sit in a small section at the front of the stage because I played earlier that day with one of the middle school bands, and back then they gave us passes to sit up front.

When I was 12 or 13, I saw Matchbox 20, Everclear, and Lifehouse with my brother and Dad. But I would say my first real experience was when I was 15 and me and a good friend of mine went with his brother's clique to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert (Mars Volta and Queens of the Stone Age opened, and both sucked). A night of many firsts. Saw a chick flash a security guard for a glass of water, went to Hooters, drove with people smoking cannabis and boozing on the highway (I didn't realize at the time that people actually did these.)

I got most of my CDs as gifts, but one I actually remember buying with my own cash is Metallica's Kill 'Em All.
