Subluxed Rib
    #7967391 -

Anyone have any expereience with these?

Basically about 2+ years ago I popped a couple of ribs out of place (coughing I think... it took me a while to figure out that something was really wrong for the long-term). Now my rib cage is all bent out of whack, I've got a couple ribs pushed an inch or so out of place, and you can feel the pokey ends where they ought to hook in to my breatbone. I get a chronic aching pain in the region of the fucked-up ribs, and a good handful of times a day I'll get attacks of sharp stabbing pains where the ribs fail to meet the breastbone. Also I get a lot of cramped intercostal muscles along my back.

Now I've been to a couple doctors about this. Most of them don't even seem to even acknowledge there's a problem... they take an x-ray, see that nothing is actually currently broken, then give me a prescription anti-inflammatory and some flexerils (which taking even a quarter of a pill knocks me straight the fuck out), and tell me to take it easy, it'll get better in 6-12 months. I've been through this routine several times. And my ribs still hurt like a son of a bitch.

So thanks for reading, wondering if anyone had any personal experience/advice. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Is this going to be a chronic pain issue for my entire life? Can I get a medical card out of this? (I live in Oregon and already use marijuana to manage to study through my fucking aching rib)

I dislocated a rib 10 years ago, and didn't realize what was wrong for over a year. I was seeing an LMT who worked in a physical therapy office, and she noticed that my rib was out. I took her recommendation to see a chiropractor, and it took him longer to confirm the dislocation with an X-ray than it did for him to put my rib back in place!

Regular M.D.'s can set broken bones, but they have no training in realigning bones. Get to a chiro soon!
