paypal pwnage

I'll sum this up but I need a second opinion. I sold a Korg esx1 on ebay and everything went smoothly except about 2 weeks after having it sent and he received it, he started a claim with paypal saying it was as described, and that there was some internal damage to it rendering it unusable. However this was silly, either he was bullshiting and wanted his money back, or UPS broke some equipment of mine for the second time. Without talking to me or asking me anything he just starts a claim, paypal reviews for a couple weeks and takes in favor of the buyer, and I need to issue a full refund. The buyer is to send the item back, and I'm to confirm I got it and paypal will refund the money. Yesterday I receive the sampler, and go on paypal to tell em that I had had it. However I get this email saying;

If I'm reading this right paypal just pwned the buyer, the claim is closed and no refund is to be givin, however I have my broken sampler back. I'm thinking I might just send it back too him not to be a dick.

The gay thing is it wasn't broke when I sent it, if he would've done a dispute with UPS we' couldve got a replacement cash for it, and it would've worked out for both of us. Either UPS fucked it up or he turned it on when it was really cold and fresh out of the package, and fried some internal circuitry.

So your sampler came back in a broken condition? A condition you didn't send it in?

Did you send it with insurance? If not... then it's a pretty grey area. Really hardcore stuff like that you should put a note on your ebay item saying you RECOMMEND THE BUYER PAYING FOR INSURANCE and get a quote from UPS to see how much it would be.... otherwise you WON'T be help responsible for broken condition.

Of course I sent with insurance, I had 2 broken ttx's from UPS and they replaced them both with cash, and I got too keep the broken ones, that just need new tonearms. And of course it came back in broken condition thats what this is all about.

there is no claim with ups its with paypal, the guy was being a piss ant and didnt want to do anythinig with UPS because he thought I was sending him broke equipment. I guess he got what he deserved

I've been ripped off through the paypal resolution system twice, I really hate it. They make you feel more protected than you really are.
