Friend going to court on possession charges

this is in Canada


My best friend, drunkenly held onto an *undisclosed* amount of ecstacy for a friend and got chased by the cops for climbing on roof tops.

He is charged with possession of a class 4 substance.

Basically what happened was, he was asked by his friend (dealer) to carry an undisclosed amount of ecstacy and he would get him high (he was already drunk.)

They ended up climbing up onto business rooftops and the cops were called, and they got busted.

The cops found the E and my friend said he didnt know where he got it. (he has no idea how many pills there were) but the cop said, "what were you doing with 35 caps of e?" - his friend said there was closer to a 100 pills in the bag.


So, my friend is going to court, probably without a lawyer, with no prior history...

What is he looking at.

Im so scared for him, i wish he'd narc on the prick he was carrying for. I just got off the phone with him and he says hes having trouble sleeping at nite.

Snitching is worse. But you should have him a.) get legal counsel, even if it's just a PD and b.) tell the guy to take blame where it's due. I couldn't handle the guilt of someone doing potentially years of time because of me

I want him to narc cause the guy he was carrying for was using him completely, and got busted with him but without the drugs but diddnt have the balls to say they were his.

My friend is just a nice guy that was taken advantage of...

since this happened, he hasn't even spoken to him really.

Well, that's kinda the whole point of having someone carry your shit for you. You don't get in trouble, and you let the other person have a reward for risking it. Your friend happened to get busted, and if he didn't want to get used he shouldn't have agreed. Just be happy he's got no priors.

Yeah, he was taken advantage of, but narcing is such a breach of one's honor code. I guess it's up to him, but then it's still his word against the guy's

There are two scenarios:

1) Your friend narcs and the police bust two people instead of one. Nothing else changes.

2) Your friend doesn't narc and the police bust one person instead of two. Nothing else changes.

Rule number one when dealing with police. Keep that damn mouth shut no matter how badly you want to say something. Let your lawyer do the talking for you.

Rule number two when dealing with police. Unless they are under oath, police are allowed to lie. They want you to incriminate yourself and others and will lie to get you to do so... remember rule number one.

Not that I'd ever know about getting busted with a bunch of E cuz I haven't (cough cough) and if I ever WOULD have then I'm sure it would have been expunged somehow(doo dee doo) but...

ALl i can say is GET YOUR A DAMN lawyer!

Trust me.

Course... running around rooftops and doing stuff that's going to attract attention when you have shit on you isn't the smartest thing to do.

If he is going to sell out his friend, let the lawyer work out the deal. If he "narcs" out the friend via simply telling the cops, they allready have his testimony implicating the friend, and an admission your friend was guilty of the possesion.

I don't really have any advice hasn't been given, but why were they carrying around a jar of pills while climbing on rooftops? Dumb, dumb, dumb. If you're going to do sketchy shit where there is a damn good possibility cops will be involved LEAVE YOUR DRUGS AT HOME!
