Liquid cultures
    #7731742 -

I made 8 600ML honey liquid culture jars. Currently had 2 fail but the other 6 are growing nice. I pressure cooked the honey a lil long so i believe some of the sugar caramelized on the bottom. No problem because it gave the mych a nice substance to attach itself and grow on. So, here are my series of questions

1.) What besides honey can i use and whats the best.
2.) If 1 is different then honey where do i get it?
3.) the Mych eats the sugar correct?
4.) Can i take distilled water, mix with sugar steralize and inject in jars to promote even more growth?
5.) Can you do LC to LC transfers with a realatively high success rate?
.6) if 4 is possible how would one do it without caramelizing it?

Some interesting questions but i couldn't find any in any guide cause well "they're odd questions"

Thanks for any responses

there too many questions, you cant expect that many answers use all the search methods and you will find your answers some of your questions are common sence like... does the myc feed on the the suger?
type l.c into the bottom of the main page and you will find loads of shit and might even learn something your not asking too

1. Kara can be used and some types of suger, search for lc tek
2. ?
3. Yes the myc eats the suger to grow.
4. Yes, but it wont promote better growth, distilled water just has all the impurities removed, so its more sterile than tap water, which will be sterilised anyway.
5, yes you can, but its best to not do it to many times otherwise it can degrade, ie 1 LC can make many other lcs, but the using those lcs to make more is generaly not such a great idea. The master lc should be kept in the fridge and when you run out of working LC use the master to inoc more
6. Caramelisation of the sugers in honey is the result of over cooking the LC

why is it not such a good idea to make more LC's out of LC's? I've always wondered about that myself. Does the myc get weaker and weaker if you keep continuing it?

because your making them 3rd 4th 5th an so on generations, allways work from a master culture, so as to keep it second generation, you can however pick a fast growing or a potent batch and clone that mushrooms charateristics to another lc

Its not a good idea because the genetics can degrade each time you go down the generations.

So You have your fresh LC 1A you draw some myc water and inoc LC 1B, then when 1B you draw some myc water and inoc 1C, and so on. This is what is not recomended, You should always start with 1A (or the master)

Cloning down the generations can produce sporeless mushrooms and other genetic mutations i believe.

knw to stay above 3rd generation, before this could start to happen i think but there is no reason to use no more than a working and a master, like you say once the master gets low start another one as long as you take from the working there should be no problem
