I want to know what sort of vibe I give off. If people perceive me as insightful, or as a know-it-all douche, or if they really have no opinion one way or the other.
It bothers me that I want to know this. Ultimately, it doesn't matter in the least what people think of me, but I can't help but wonder, you know?
You can't ask though. That's a social faux pas, for sure. It'll undoubtedly cause people to lose respect for you to know that you're so concerned with what others think. But it's not really a matter of being concerned so much as pure and simple curiosity.
I know I'm not alone in this curiosity. Funny how frowned upon it is to simply ask.

Well you'd get different responses from different people anyway.
Some people love me, think I'm smart, strong-willed, funny and talented.
Others think I'm aloof, stuck-up, a smart-ass and a bitch.
They are both right. I am all those things. Depends on who I am dealing with.

Yeah, I know I'd get varied responses. Which is why I'm curious how lots of individuals perceive me. However, I can say currently, I'm primarily focused on the thoughts of the people on the shroomery, which may sound a bit pathetic, but it makes sense.
In real life, you have face to face interactions with people. You can read their micro-expressions and other bodily cues. The better you get to know a person, the more likely you are able to understand their perception of you.
But the shroomery is completely text-based. There are no subtle bodily cues or vocal inflections to interpret. Just excerpts of peoples' thoughts they felt like taking the time to translate to text. It leaves one very little go on.
So I suppose I should have specified that I'm curious in how people perceive my shroomery persona.

I don't think it's healthy to care what people on the internet think of you. It's the internet. I think it's bad enough we have to have an anonymous forum because people are afraid of the intergrities of their online personas being tarnished.
To the OP, the fact that you care what others think of you probably means your a sensitive, nice, smart dude. So you're probably cool.

Well like I said, it's not that I care so much as I'm simply curious. Certainly in all of our social interactions there is a type of vibe we attempt to give off, whether we can consciously recognize it or not (though for the most part, it is entirely conscious, despite whether people will admit it). In just "being yourself", you're attempting to give off a specific vibe about what your individuality entails.
And I'm simply curious if from my many, many posts people perceive me in the way I feel I've exhibited. I don't really care, just curious.
Also, I am the OP and I'm a guy.

Well, it's hard to say what people think of you. As another poster said, you can be many things to different people. I think the important thing is to be able to like yourself.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't really looking for any answers in posting this thread. Really just making conversation and procrastinating the time away from things i should really be focusing on.

If you are wondering what people here think about you just read your ratings. It's imperfect of course because alot of people don't rate.
I can tell you are intelligent. Well, you at least can form complete sentences!
I have thought about that myself, possibly making a thread to see what people think, but my guess is they would all be like "Who?" I'm around a bit but don't make thousands of posts.

The only one who really frowns upon asking is the false, conditioned, self, which has been taught to judge one's actions and restrain one's conduct. There may be people who frown upon it but honestly, you'd have to be a loser to dislike someone at all for that person asking what you thought of them.

you can't both not care and want to know how people perceive you
don't care - "who gives a shit? i don't base my worth on what people think good or bad"
want to know - "i can't have people thinking badly of me. i need to know what part of my facade to change so people think im like totally awesome"

The utility and experimentation this forum provides reaches far beyond that simple construct, you know. I do not believe people's fragile online egos are the reason "we have an anonymous forum".

or...
don't care - "what people think wouldn't bother me either way"
want to know - "simply curious how i'm perceived. were i to know, i would take no steps to change the way i act."
because that's how it actually is. by tacking "i need to know what part of my facade to change so people think im like totally awesome" on the end of that like it's an afterthought is really a piss poor attempt at being a witty asshole. but hey, at least you're halfway there.
