the last threads title was making it a battle, people that liked ratings got pissed off. like you.
this ones more peacefull and has a better chance of getting good results

I just don't see any compelling reason why this needs to be an option. I can understand a toggle for features which could be annoying or use excess bandwidth, like displaying signatures or avatars. But if you don't like ratings, just don't look at them. I realize you don't perceive any value in the current rating system and that's fine, but I don't see why I should bother coding in a feature to block them.

not seeing them would be one less bit of mental background noise for me
everything has an influence wether its conscious or subconscious
its a distraction basically

If you really find them unbearably distracting you can go into your display preferences, click the 'Custom Style' link near the top of the page, and paste the following into the text box which appears:
