why are festivals so much better in europe?

the art is better, they get the close to cutting edge electronic music scene, they're a little bit larger...

its not fair.

anyone from europe thats been to glade fest or something want to confirm my suspicion that its completely fucking awesome?

Why are you creaming over something youve never been to? If you ever go you might think festivals are better on the other side of the pond, dont get me wrong but, this strikes me as the grass is greener type of thinking.

the one i am primarily interested in is love parade--its supposed to be the largest rave in the entire world and lasts for an entire week straight. it has attracted up to a million attenders at one point, and huge name in hardhouse, psy, prog trance, and other genres perform. not to mention, everybody is running amock in the middle of the streets having sex, doing psychs in public LMFAO... for that one week in germany you are allowed to do whatever the FUCK YOU WANT!!! hhahaha

the pictures show how i'm looking at it.

mainly i like the music though. i've never even been to a drum and bass party here that had more than a couple hundred people...

much less seeing aphex twin and squarepusher live at the same place with 100,000 other people all tripping on acid.

My friends were just at Sensations. Of course they are from Europe.

Just took my Buddy from Italy to MOE down. He said if any of his friends found out or new what he was doing, he would be ostracized.

Not just because of the drugs and the dirt, but because of camping in tents and no showers and shit like that.

Some people believe in looking good being clean, and living well. Like over there, the people would look at the U.S.A.'s "Wookies" as the equivalent to the European "Gypsies". Both derogatory depending on who says them, or both sharing many of the same virtues.

Glade looks massive, they have it right by me every year. We were gonna hop the fence, but we ate our acid before hand.. and never got round to it.

Boom in portugal however.. now that looks fat.

Besides, the best thing over here is not the festivals, but the illegal raves that go on for days and days until the generator finally runs out of juice. I've been to massive (as in 1000+ people) illegal psy raves in the forest which have gone on for days, until the drugs, spirit and generator runs out :grin:

Illegal parties always play much better, darker and more twisted music.. and you quite often see a lot of up and coming artists from the underground psy scene mixing at them :grin:

the only [major] festival i've been to in europe is roskilde. it was fun and all, but my main gripe with european festies, and the concert scene in europe in general, is the complete lack of dead. pretty much the only reason i go to festivals in the states is to see bobby or phil & friends (and phish when they used to throw their own festivals), and in europe you'll find basically zilch when it comes to GD music. :ohwell: :sad:
