Persistent Headache from Working Out?

So on Saturday (over two days ago), I was doing leg presses on at the gym. At the end of my set, I had a ridiculously bad headache all of a sudden. At first I thought, since I was leg pressing 330 lbs, I had been straining my neck without knowing it... perhaps pushing against the back pad very hard. I don't know.

But it disrupted my workout pretty badly, so I left the gym early to go home and take some acetaminophen for my head.

Fast forward over two days to today (Monday), and it's still pretty much there. I took Sunday off from the gym, and when I went in today, I couldn't do anything without my head pounding. I couldn't jump rope, run, and definitely not lift.

When I have headaches, I never take anything for them, I usually just drink water, eat well, and they go away. But this one is so persistent and painful that I've tried taking acetaminophens, ibuprofen, and aspirin, and of course nothing works.

Any clue what I should do? Any clue what this bastard headache is from? Poor breathing? I hate taking drugs and I HATE taking a break from exercise for more than two days.....

I'm going to mention something that wasn't in the article Ver posted.

Many headaches, including migraines are actually a result of acidosis ( to much acid/toxins in the system )

When lifting weights, you are building a lot of lactic acids in your muscles. When the body can't neutralize to its healthy PH level, what you get is acidosis and it can be serious if it goes to far. Headaches and migraines are common symptoms of it.

Acid build up comes from MANY factors and you may have many habits that could be causing a level your body can't neutralize anymore.

Many filtered waters, including water cleansed by reverse osmosis is acidic. Switch to spring water for a while with some fresh lemon. Lemon, believe or not, is the highest alkalizing food there is.

All dairy, eggs, carbs and ALL meats including fish are acidic.

Artificial sweeteners are the worst.

Google high alkaline vs high acidic foods and switch for a while best you can to give your body a rest so it can re-neutralize.

Make sure you take time to rest and fully RELAX during every day. The bodies nervous system doesn't work on self healing unless you are relaxed. When it's in fight or flight stress mode, no cleansing of toxins including high acids, rejuvenation or regeneration place.

Cut back on the lactic acid body building sort of work outs for a while and switch to 'soft exercise". By soft I mean keep the body moving and stretching to help the lymph fluids pump out the junk like acids, just not burning and building more acids.

Try all of this for a week or so and see if the headaches don't stop.

The only supplement that I take is a Glucosamine / Chondroitin mixture for my knee joints.

Yep, I've still got that headache just wallowing around in my skull. It's generally very mild unless I work out or exercise, so I've avoided that since I last said I tried on Monday.

Veritas, according to the article posted, and some others that I've read, my headache is an exertional headache. Almost all articles I read just suggest over the counter pain relievers, all of which I've tried with no luck.

gettinjiggywithit, though most websites seem to have conflicting lists of acid and alkaline foods, I'd say it seems my diet is reasonably balanced. But I guess it can't hurt to make a greater effort. I guess I'll alkalize my diet a bit more and rest for the remainder of the week. If that doesn't work, then I guess I'll be forced to head to a doctor something....

The only advice I have for you is to drink water and eat a lot of complex carbs. That should definitely help.
