I got the biggest pile of grass clippings in my back yard. I've posted before on whether I could use the grass clippings to grow or not. There's actually this sludge underneath some of the grass that has been sitting there for a few years. I just wish it was as simple as me going out there and scraping some spores onto that sludge and watching the shroomies grow!

Yeah, I got a Eq and a B+ print sitting right in front of me. I think I'm going to try it! I was called an idiot when I asked before so I didnt bother trying. But, fuck it, I've got nothing to lose.
Moe, should I put a thin layer of dry grass over the sludge where I put the spores? Have any suggestions?

I'm figuring the sludge is decomposed grass clippings, along with various vegetables and shit like corn husks and shit like that. I'm not sure if there's mud in there too. I think I'll just put some of the spores into some water and dump it on there.

Litterally somebody I know has got a good old fassioned compost heap made of grass, leaves, sitcks and all of the other dead shit found in the yard. It is really really rich, and the trick is getting something not to grow in it. Would this be some good stuff to case with?

Well, I didn't use a whole print but I scraped some spores into a little container of water... scraped off the top layer or dry grass exposing the infamous 'sludge'. I poured the spore water onto and then put the dry grass layer back on top. Now all I have to do is wait... Hopefully if it works, summer wont be over by the time they start to fruit... If it does work I'll be sure to post about it.

Hmmmm. You might mix it with some vermiculite to make it a little more water-retentive and airy (depending on how heavy it currently is), but past that it would probably make a good casing.
Might also make a good spawn mixture, too.

I appreciate Moe's help very much, yes, but I didn't see a HUGE difference between what I did and what he suggested I do. Yeah, maybe I should've listened to him, but I think if it's going to work at all it will work with the method that I used.

Well, you do what you like, but I think that the muck under the pile will either be extremely alkaline or extremely acidic and the grass itself will have a much more neutral ph level which is what the spores need to produce mycelium. Extremes in either direction will just kill the spores. What a waste of a good print!

Well, now that I think about it you might be right. But then again, thats why this was an experiment and that is also why I didn't use the whole print. I can still use the print to make a syringe or what not.
I'm just sort of pissed because I had some honey water over at my friends with mycelium and then today my other friend said the friend with water said he might've fucked it up. ANYWAYS IM PISSED. He couldn't just leave it alone until I got there to do it. The greedy bastard is money hungry and too anxious to grow them so he can sell them. The ignorant fool also thinks we're going to get a pound out of 1 or 2 casings, hahahaha.
It will be sort've funny when they grow and theres not that much and I just eat 'em..
